I'll be honest, the story is very intriguing; this has been one of those games that I enjoy both for the lewd aspect and the story. Though I think that realistically speaking at this point the porn and story aspect are intertwined and serve as the primary focus.

Yeah, that's why I've always marketed it as being an Adult Visual Novel. As opposed to a Mature Visual Novel. Adult usually implies lewd bits. However, I would like to look more into making a SFW version of Harem Hotel, and probably give it a different name that fits, so the game can be on more platforms. I would only do so if the story and game were still interesting though, and I haven't given it more than just a thought.

To be honest, I do somewhat agree with the sentiment that the game becomes very "plot heavy" at certain points. However, I'm not sure where exactly I stand on the issue.

One one side, it's the plot and story that allows us to grow more attached to these characters and prevents them from remaining boring 2-dimensional walking tropes. Learning about these girls and their history is what makes them interesting. The abuse Ashley endured, the religious responsibilities Autumn grew up with, Lin's history as an elf, all of these make them who they are in the present. And I'm not against further character development because for the most part I like the characters. Having none of this plot would just make this a boring sex simulator. At that point you might as well just watch porn.

On the other hand, there were a few times where I felt like the pendulum swung a little too far in the other direction, where it felt like the plot heaviness kind of came out of nowhere (namely Maria's and Lin's story arcs). However, that could just be because of my particular playthrough (due to the order I went through events and such) and it wouldn't be representative of everyone else's experience.

Nevertheless, I respect the creative vision because (as Runey just explained), this is an Adult Visual Novel, not a "porn game". I'd be lying if I didn't go into this with "porn game expectations" though lol.

A higher chance that they can't hold it in the dungeon. At low levels, they don't listen because they are defiant, at higher levels, they just like to be punished.

I would wish for an option where I can select some special XXX scenes freely.

Comparable is the dungeon where you go to and then select the girl you want and can choose what to do.
Or how it is in the Rooms of the girls.

I like the possibility to have the decision what to do.

For example, every Sunday evening after a specific progress in the game (and if no special event is blocking that time slot) I have the option to choose an event with a girl (or many) that is far enough in friendship level to have unlocked.

An example would be. Go to Marias room and tell her "Lets go into the shower together". Then have a repeatable sex scene in the shower.
Currently you have to know on what day Maria is in the shower and you need to know it for all the girls if you want to see them.
With this it would maybe also be possible to re-use older content repeatedly in the story flow and not static like a gallery.

For the shower scene:
Just change the beginning and end form the normal shower scene. Add some new dialog to change the current existing "going into the shower by accident/or getting caught spying" for example to "she is already waiting in the shower for you to come inside" and play the old animation.

Something like this could create nice possibilities like options in the dialog if you unlock cloth, locations or toys:
MC: Want to meet in the shower room for some fun?
Maria: Sure sounds great. Want me to were my bikini today?

Or call Kate by phone and ask her for a little private time in the hot springs.
Then have some options to choose.

Visit the tree house with Moon again by calling her and asking to visit there again.

SO my wish would be the function:
On special time slot -> Select Girl(s) -> select possible location -> select options.

And you created a lot of locations by now. (Bar, Garden, HotSpring, Sanctum, Shower, Utility Room…..)

I know that I would look forward to Sunday inside the game

To me, this comes off just like "This book has too many words and not enough pictures." In that sense, my response would be "This isn't a comic book, it's a novel."

Or plainly speaking, Harem Hotel is an Adult Visual Novel, not a porn game. I try to keep the ratio of story to porn as 3:1, but sometimes story prevents lewd action, such as when they shouldn't be in the mood due to something big happening in their story. v0.15 has a lot of lewd content.

I understand that when one come to this website, one expects a certain type of game. But I am only allowed to post this game on certain websites, usually ones that allow porn games.

I appreciate it, but all routes will stay NSFW, Autumn's route will have a more traditional dating experience. It will lead to vaginal instead of almost starting with it. But I am not interested in adding decisions that change the direction of the story, that would double my work already and I already do a lot of work, so it would only end up making each update feel shorter. Harem Hotel is a book in game form with pictures, so it will remain quite linear.

And for the most part, 4 training options have been planned to be the minimum amount. So it's likely that more options will be added to the dungeon and exhibitionism training. What would you like to see?

Yeah, it would be a real challenge, but many Japanese VN games had SFW versions for Playstation consoles... You would have to remove and/or change a lot, maybe some replacements, like more kissing, hugging, and headpats... lol But, it seems possible.

I'm a bit late to answering this but those errors look more like a Ren'Py compatiablity rendering issue.

Since the game is running on an old 7.3.x version of Ren'Py, one thing you could try to do is download a game running on a newer version of Ren'Py. Check my sig and grab the game The Fosters as it's running on the latest and last version of 7.4.x.
Create a new folder and copy all the contents inside The Fosters except it's game folder.
Copy the game folder and updates folder from Harem Hotel into the new folder.
You can choose to rename TheFosters.exe and TheFosters.py to Harem_Hotel.exe and Harem_Hotel.py or not.
Then run either TheFosters.exe or Harem_Hotel.exe or JackOffSessions2022.exe or whatever you named the .exe .

Harem Hotel is actually on the latest version of Renpy right now. The error you're experiencing is a simple one, it says "Exception: u'/color' closes a text tag that isn't open." which is not an error present in v0.14.1.

To me this sounds like a mod you installed is having errors.

There seems to be a {/color} which doesn't need to be there... Seems like a small mistake though and is easy to fix.

My actual question though is that you said it's on the latest version of Pen'Py. It seems like I'm not?

It's possible that the mod you installed is messing things up, as it caused the error.
