You should probably be aware that Devian is constantly claiming that betas, codes, etc will brick your save, and he tends to exaggerate. His discouragement of the use of anything Runey has paywalled (despite the nature of these boards) probably has a lot to do with the fact that Runey commissions/buys assets from him.
I don't have an issue with sharing patron-only stuff, but I'd still advise against using those jumptoend cheat codes because they change a lot of variables at the same time, and speaking from experience, Runey's coding skills are a bit... patchy.
In other words, I don't trust those to work properly because he probably missed something and you'll end up stuck later on.

That said, the game does warn you to make a backup save, so if anyone decides to ignore it, that's on them.

Edit: The Devian has said, in no uncertain terms, that he has never been compensated by Runey. I do not have proof to contradict his claim, so I will withdraw it.

Advising people to engage in basic troubleshooting- unsupported, unofficial third party mods, for example, and saves from old builds of a game- is not a conspiracy involving kickbacks. If you resent being called a conspiracy theorist you should probably avoid immediately leaping into accusing people of conspiring.

This is basic playtesting policy. It is really difficult to know how saves from old builds will interact with the current build of the game- especially from a leaked non-full release- so as a matter of policy it's best to just not use old saves with experimental versions of the game.

I mean, when instructions for anything else warn you to make backups of files you're editing, you actually make those backups, right?
Oh, good, you're back.

What does something being supported or unsupported have to do with these boards? I thought this was a stinky dirty board of pirates? Or is that only the case when it's convenient for your purposes? Anyone that's ever pirated or otherwise modded a game knows that your saves can get screwed up. Despite that, it's not "make sure to manually save so you can roll back if needed", it's "dOn't pLaY ThE BeTaS, tHeY ArE BaD AnD WiLl bReAk yOuR SaVe"

And why do you suddenly care about the save data of non-paying players? Yesterday they were free loaders with no right to complain. Kinda weird, bro :sneaky:

And how come the betas are radioactive for people on these boards, but perfectly fine for the $10 patrons? Is there a technical test from Runey before you're allowed to sign up for that tier? Is Devian over in Runey's discord waving the red flag about save-breaking betas? No? Huh, how odd.

And there you go again, everything you don't want to hear is called a conspiracy :ROFLMAO:. That's an excellent way to wriggle out of the following questions:

Does the Devian have a financial incentive to discourage people from breaking the paywall? Yes or No?

Does the Devian also make a lot of posts saying not to use cheatcodes and play pre-release? Yes or No?

Oh, and in case anyone is curious, for the record, I have never charged Runey for any of the assets I make for him. I don't charge my friends, and besides, I feel like I owe Runey for all of the years of entertainment.
I am poor, and can't afford to support anyone financially, so I do what I can to help out some of the devs who make games I like, when they want it. Some I do tech support, some I do proofreading, some I do testing, some I donate assets, and so on. It is how I give back to the community.

I do testing on a lot of games (including my own), and before that, I have done it professionally. Sometimes bugs can happen that you don't even notice for a long time. Alphas and Betas are like that. If you don't want broken saves and you don't want to replay the new content when it goes live, then don't play alphas or betas. This is just basic common sense (something that tends to be lacking in a lot of people now days).

Also, I know the way a lot of these games are designed, and cheating certain stats, like in the example here of skipping events, might allow you to trigger the newest event, but it will not set all of the right flags along the way, so your save will be useless going forward, they were put there to test things, not to play the game. You can easily soft lock, or even brick your game. It is just not worth the risk.

While it can be nice to get things early, you need to know what you are getting into and be prepared for what you are going to have to deal with, but most people here don't pay enough attention, and only use one save for their whole game... It is a recipe for disaster that I have seen play out more times than I want to count.

As for Runey, yes, he used to be a lot more active here, but then last year, a lot of people decided to give him a bunch of shit over his last update being slower than usual, while he was dealing with his father's death and a bunch of other crap. After months of that shit, he finally just stopped checking in here that much. I do try to pass on anything important that happens though.

He cares because these forums are enough of a shit hole already without tons of fucking crash posts because people are stupid.

betas are radioactive here because they get posted on the main page and every unaware person just downloads it like it’s the main game and are too stupid to have more than 1 save file. Beta users on Patreon are paying and tend to be informed as to what they’re playing and the pitfalls there in.

no financial incentive

yes lots of posts, because the already answered question gets asked infinitely by the uniformed and unwilling to read mentioned above.

incentive to protect some semblance of sanity while spending time in this garthering of the lord of the dumbs.

And the thread is down in the gutter again. It is long, long time ago this thread was centred about the game itself and not on tertiary or secondary topics at best.
Android will get into femdom mode for you all and Ashley will get her knife pout again.

Repeat of last summer, including some of the "guest" appearances. Unless Runey gets back into a 2-3 yearly update routine again, it simply isn't going to go away(likely wouldn't anyways). Harem Hotel has finally hit peak traffic like so many other popular game threads here on F95.

You do a hellofa a job bud ! I always giggle at the trolls on these types of FREE experimental testing sights. Any author (gaming/writer/whatever) can never write as fast as the players/readers can burn through it. Either search for completed games only if you're that impatient and bitchy...otherwise, just enjoy the ride along the way and STFU ! hahahaha

He is getting back into the groove again, but with the size of these updates, and the work that has been going into them, I would be surprised if we get more than two a year again. There are just too many characters for that, and shorter updates would have people bitching that their favorite did not get any screen time, or how they updates are shorter than they used to be, or something similar. We already get some of that bitching with the side girls as it is.
