Harmony Girls Post Release Announcement

I hope you all had fun playing the latest releases of Harmony Girls! I've got some pretty big news today regarding major changes coming in the future, so strap in.

For those of you who aren't aware, I put a lot of time into modifying the existing code of the game to support translations. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to support full translation support, so I'll be translating the game using GPT to provide the best machine translations I can. I'll be releasing more translations as I make them over the coming weeks to ideally have a large number of major languages supported. In this process, I've had to modify nearly every file in the game and so I decided not to release the translations in the public version. Instead, they'll be released when v0.5.1 goes public.

Now for some big news, I've commissioned an artist to help overhaul to GUI in Harmony Girls and make it look as nice as possible. This will include everything from the main menu and dialogue box down to the cheat menu. I don't know how long this process will take and I don't want to get everyone's hopes up that it'll be out soon. We may see it slowly roll out piece by piece over the long term, but since this process has just started we'll just have to wait and see. I'll be posting updates about this in the developer updates that I put out on a weekly basis for supporters. The one thing I can say right now is some of the functionality of the game will change as a result of the GUI rework. Some GUI elements will likely be combined into a single screen and others may be accessed from different buttons or areas of the game. I still want everything to flow well and navigating the UI to be easy for the player, but I want it to look good at the same time.

I decided to pursue this now for multiple reasons, one of them being help with a final design for the card rework I've been working on. The translation has also demanded UI changes because a lot of the translated text results in larger words and more space in the UI than I originally designated. That, and the UI of Harmony Girls is just... ugly! It's finally time for a facelift to get the UI to match the quality of the rest of the game.

I've got a lot of work ahead of me getting all of these changes implemented in the game, but I hope everyone is excited to see what the final result looks like. That's all I have for you today! Thanks for your interest in Harmony Girls and I'll see you all next time!

It's Time for Action!

For those of you who are not aware, the largest game platform for indie developers, , de-listed every adult game on their platform today in order to capitulate to payment processor's demands. Steam also came under attack this past week and purged numerous games from their store that do not adhere to new requirements. This is not the first attack payment giants have made against the adult industry. I'm sure many of you remember the time OnlyFans attempted to ban adult content, or when numerous developers were de-platformed from Patreon for content that violated payment processors ToS. This will not be the end of the story, and it certainly is not the end goal of the people pulling the strings to enact their agenda. This is only one avenue of attack these organizations are doing in order to ban pornography outright and imprison those who make it.

So what exactly is the problem? Major credit card networks like Visa and Mastercard, along with payment processors like Stripe and Paypal, are coming under increasing pressure from anti-porn groups like Collective Shout, the group that has taken responsibility for Steam's purge and has recently made their Twitter account private due to the backlash. These groups are also attacking our rights from another angle as they also push for legislation requiring adult content websites to enact age verification for its users, often under the guise of protecting minors from elicit content. Age verification has already shown to be an ineffective strategy at combating access to pornography for minors, instead pushing workarounds like VPNs or switching to different platforms that don't require age verification and are more likely to contain extreme content. Russel Vought, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the United States, has admitted on a secret video recording that age verification is just a "back door" to banning pornography. We should expect the increasing limitations and scrutiny on legal adult content from credit card networks and payment processors to be no different, just another way to ban pornography.

So what can you do about this? This is a global problem and the actions you can do will depend on where you live. The best thing you can do is contact your government representative and urge them to look into the matter and propose legislation to remedy the issue. This would mean enacting a law that prevents credit card networks and payment processors from declining legal transactions because of political or reputational risk considerations. Essentially, they shouldn't be allowed to decline a person or business that is being lawful in order to prevent bad publicity. This should also extend to banking, as I personally have been unable to open a bank account for my business because of its nature.

Now let's get into a little more detail. If you live in the United States, there is a currently a proposed bill in the Senate and the House of Representatives, named the Fair Access to Banking Act, which attempts to remedy some of the issues at hand. I urge you to contact your representative and explain the attack on your rights that's currently under way. Tell them to include payment processors in Section 5 in addition to strengthening the language to add clarification in this section. If you can't be bothered to write to them yourself, I'll be creating another post with more details and a letter template that you can use to make the process much easier.

For those living in the rest of the world, I highly recommend you contact your representatives and have them look at the bill in the United States and have them draft and propose a similar law. And everyone should be contacting their local or national governments to urge them to drop any attempts to enact the ineffective and potentially damaging age verification for platforms that have adult content. The only way forward is for our governments to enact laws enshrining our rights to access adult content!

Let me be clear, this affects you! You're losing access to the adult games that you enjoy, and you may never be able to play those games again unless YOU do something about it! Don't just sit back thinking this will all blow over because it won't! This will only get worse as these people push to rid the internet of all adult content. It's time to FIGHT for the content that you know and love!

And if you think these people are going to stop with adult video games, you're delusional. It won't be long before they go after games with violence or any questionable subject matter like drugs or alcohol. It's insane that this small group of people can dictate what other people are allowed to enjoy In the privacy of their own homes, all across the world. And using these tactics what's to stop them from getting payment processors to basically shut down any adult store.. want a dildo? To bad you can't fuck yourself.. want to toss a cold one back with the boys? Nope, alcohol can lead to degeneracy. Guess you better go fuck yourself with your non-existent dildo you can't buy.. anything these people decide doesn't line up with their mortality can be a target. Like this is so bad. At least when MasterCard did this to porn hub it was because there was actually real rape and abuse being hosted. Now it's just because some puritan has a bug up their ass.

I've created two sets of letter templates you all can use to send to your government representatives, one for US citizens and one for citizens in other countries. I need someone to check over these to make sure everything looks good and professional. When things are finalized, I urge everyone to start sending these out across multiple threads and platforms to spread them. This is incredibly important! The harsh reality is that adult game developers would not have the time or resources to create games without any financial backing. Please look these over and distribute them wherever you can!
