Without knowing too much of the Details as I understood it, it is due to EU regulations regarding child protection.

Each EU member of course has some leeway as how to implement those legislations into national law. So us Germans being the thorough bunch we are just ban it all.

It is due to Steam still not having a "real" age verification system.

VPNs are also no workaround as it is based on the origin of your billing system.

I am not at all opposed to the general idea of protecting youth from smut. It just sucks that I could go to the next best hoe at the corner (Prostitution is legal in Germany, they even Pay taxes), or any Sex Shop (if physical stores even still exist), betray my wife if I wanted to, but I fucking cannot buy naughty Pixels on Steam.

At least this is my understanding. I invite all the more educated people to correct me.

Cheers!
And that is just Valve to blame for that. There is no reason why they cant add that.

The only way Valve can properly implement age verification is to literally sacrifice our privacy in a big way... no different than making us bend over while they probe us in the butt.

I say no thanks.

Would you seriously be willing to give out personal identifiable information that can be used against you to a complete stranger on the internet? Because that's what Valve is... they're random strangers you've never met before and do not care about you at all. You think they wouldn't hesitate to sell your personal identifiable information for money to other complete strangers? What do you think so many other companies are doing right now? Let's not encourage more problems as I think we have too many as it is.

Right now, there are plenty of ways of getting around the dumb censorship, like piracy. That should be good enough. If it isn't, then that's just greed and selfishness kicking in.

Accomplishes nothing. If I didn't have porn growing up I'd have just kept jerking off to the women's underwear section of the Sears Christmas catalogue. Besides that it might stop youths from accessing porn games on Steam but it does nothing to stop youths from using a vpn to access the hub, or any number of often even worse sites.

It would be possible to make just an optional function whether you want to verify your account and prove that you are 18+ or not.

Porn tubes are accessible perfectly fine here in Germany without any other restriction than to click "yes, I am 18". No VPN needed. If I am correct, people in the UK needs VPNs while they have full access to Steam. I think it was this way even before brexit but I might be wrong as well.

Well, yeah this is all a big mess. But in the end I am lucky to have F95 so I don`t actually have to give a fuck about it at all :D.

You mean ... when I give them access to my identity card (Personalausweis) they have that much more than they already have? o_O

They have my E-Mail, my name, my phone number and payment data.

I couldnt care less with a company that already has so many information about me - I wont give that data to every page or company, but tbh - I got my 20 year badge last year on steam... I can survive that. All relationships have its ups and downs :p

I know that the new eID in Germany has age verification for online services integrated in some fashion, so I guess it is just a matter of time until it should be possible to verify an account with out giving all the information and it only gets a "this user is an adult".

BUT

the ban on adult games has not really something to do with that - they get banned because of some ppl reporting them.

18+ games are not banned on steam in Germany. You can buy GTA 5, Cyberpunk 2077 and so on. You only get asked for your age without any real verification and then can buy and install it.

That's why I am annoyed by that - if they would ban ALL 18+ games because of that joke of an age verification, the uproar would be massive - but its just targeted at adult media by some christian or BS groups that are fine with killing ppl or as long as no dick is shown that enters any holes (or why is CP2077 ok? o_O).

So that's why I really want proper age verification, because I do think certain games are not meant to be played under a certain age. If the parents think their kids can handle it - that's fine, all power to you. But a unsupervised child should not be able to play a porn game or GTA, CP2077, Witcher or similar games.

Let me clarify this, the German side did at first not make any demands on Steam, they only asked that images with sexual content be blurred. Steam then banned Germany from games with primarily sexual content. there were also more and more games with characters that didn't really look adult, and so that Steam in Germany couldn't be associated with C-pornography, Germany remained blocked.

Back to Business:

Status update - Episode 5

Hello friends,

It's been a busy few weeks, but I've made some decent progress. I have mostly been working on the animations and I'm currently at around 1600+ renders and 95+ animations.

I'm almost done with the lewd scenes, just a few more animations to go. After that I still have a few story scenes that require a bunch of renders, then there's the phone stuff, secret scenes, testing etc. Currently I'm expecting episode 5 to release somewhere in August. Could be sooner, could be later, just depends on how development goes in the coming period.

On another note, I already posted about this on the Discord, but last Monday the Steam page of Having a HARD Time got removed for any players in Russia. This is because Roskomnadzor (Russian agency for monitoring, controlling and censoring media) found the game to be in violation of Russian requirements, most likely due to the game's LGBTQ+ themes.

Essentially this means one of the following:

If you do not live in Russia, this does not affect you and nothing changes for you.

If you live in Russia and you already own the game on Steam, you will not be able to visit the store page anymore, but you will still be able to play the game and download all future updates through your Steam library. Basically, by the time that all episodes have been released you will have the full game, just like the other Steam players.

If you live in Russia and do not own the game on Steam, you will not be able to purchase the game there so long as your Steam region is Russia.

For anyone that falls in the last category, hopefully Patreon or Itch.io can still work for you. Unfortunately, this situation appears to be out of my hands.

Have a good weekend everyone,

~ Quadruple-Q

When I was a teenager the closest you were getting to porn on the Internet was ASCII art, and yet I still found ways to get my hands on porn. Whether that meant sneaking my dad's magazines, finding mysterious "forest porn", or shoplifting magazines from my local bookstore or VHS tapes from my local video store's back room.

If anything, attempts to prudishly protect me from smut just drove me to a life of crime.

Ehh? What? It makes perfect sense, my man. Trying to censor or withhold something makes people want that something even more than before. It's extremely basic human psychology. Just look at the American Prohibition!

Well I don't I agree with you sir/madam, and it makes no sense to me, and I believe it makes no sense in a general sense. I also believe that, if I read your statement without glasses, with level of -5 diopters, then with glasses and then with binoculars - I would still perceive it as a non-sensical statement that has no place in dignified and cultured high society.

Hi everyone! I have a question, in case anyone can help me. I downloaded the game and played throughout the first chapter. Since I liked it quite a lot, I decided to buy the game from Steam, and so I did. The thing is, during my first "playthrough", I had already unlocked three achievements, which didn't retroactively unlock when I started playing the game on Steam. I tried going through the process of unlocking them again, but to no avail. Now, I'm guessing that since the game itself has already tracked down those achievements as unlocked, the prompt doesn't pop anymore and thus those achievements are currently locked for me on Steam. I'm trying to delete all save files from the game, but despite disabling cloud saving and deleting the save folder from the hard drive, once I start the game those saves are still there. I'm guessing they might be stored somewhere else on the PC, but I just don't know where. So, if anyone could offer some advice and help, I'd really appreciate it.

TL;DR: I bought the game on Steam, but since I had already played the first chapter after downloading it from here, I can't unlock some achievements. I want to "reset" the game, delete any info my PC might have, so that it doesn't track any saves nor achievements unlocked. That way, I'll be able to start a new playthrough and be able to unlock everything on Steam.

Update: I managed to find the save files in the Renpy folder on Roaming, but even though I deleted everything and the saves indeed don't appear when I start the game, the achievement progress is still tracked, so I don't understand what I'm supposed to do now.

So I'm guessing you deleted the whole saves folder from the game and roaming renpy folder right, including the persistent data file in it. If so then I guess it is some file on the steam folder or a folder somewhere that steam creates maybe like the roaming renpy backup saves folder, not really sure where steam places the files, I'll investigate when have time. Only game I play on steam is YGO and MTGA so I'll try to find where it puts the data files of it, even though they are on unity (at least YGO is) and not renpy.

Edit: Dunno if I find a solution but I simply googled "how to reset steam game achievements" and it gives instructions, maybe you want to look at those search hits and instructions. Read it fast but it something done on the steam console with commands.
