#1 sign of bad MTL (after 'bread! bread! bread!'): the pronouns are completely bonkers because it has no idea about the context.

Japanese is very low on using pronouns, for example this would probably be something like '[dick] [is] [entered in (there)]' ('Chinko ga haitteru!'). No mention is made of whose dick it is, but the listener is supposed to be smart enough to figure out that because it's the girl speaking, it's the guy's dick, not her dick. Well MTL isn't smart enough and defaults to the speaker if it needs a pronoun.

Someone using MTL properly will go through and do an editing pass to fix all these pronoun issues, anyone who's a native English speaker should be able to do it. Japanese companies don't bother with that step (most people doing MTL don't bother with that step), and I'm sure the Chinese is just as atrocious.
