I tested the game, I think you have very bad luck, I droped the item in 4 attempts.

I've had this bug on both versions, happens right after jaika says "one second..."

Found the issue, if you stand on her right side she can't move so you have to talk to her from another direction. Sorry for creating issues that didn't exist xD
