Nah, I recently had to replay everything after a PC reformat and as someone who has both followed along with development as a former Patreon supporter and has also played the entire game in one go, it's definitely an issue of the story simply not happening on a regular enough basis. If you took Rose's corruption out of the game the story could very easily take the exact same path with only a handful of changes. The peacekeeper being used on the pirates is really the only major change, which could have been written as Cyanna, Lily, and Haylen's energy being used instead of Rose's. The issue is largely how passive of a character Leto is.
The example I'd use as a comparison point is HC2. Noah may be a much worse protagonist than Leto is due to how dumb he is, but he's consistently involved in the story. Things are constantly happening around him and he winds up an unwilling participant in the schemes of his uncle. Leto's constant refusal of the duke's attempts to elevate and use him have left him a side character in his own story. Leto accepting the duke's overtures when they first began would solve the story dilemma because it would have allowed the duke to position him near important events more often which would have necessitated greater story development.

I know it's not quite what you meant, but why is it so important that a guy get with a girl that is "pure" or a virgin. I don't think it's healthy to expect that a woman must be an untouched maiden, as pure as the driven snow, for her to be the most worthy partner. In the real world everyone comes with baggage. These days it's fairly uncommon for people to marry their teenage sweetheart and spend their whole lives together. It's more likely that any person you get into a relationship with will have a bodycount.
Let's say, for argument's sake, that Shila was once part of that world. She was corrupted by the Duke's weird cult and has had tons of kinky sex with different men, but has recently got herself free of that... She's not betrayed Leto as all this stuff would have happened before they even met, but would she still seem like the ideal girlfriend for Leto now?
Like you, I hope we're given choices about who Leto ends up with in the Happy Ending, as that will be the only way to please everyone. A bespoke Happy Ending could end up being divisive as people have very different expectations of what they want for Leto. And it does seem like Shila is being groomed as a relationship option for players who don't want Leto to end up with one of the other four women.

I don’t think it would be plausible, because imagine it—they would have to make a ton of endings. Like if Leto wants to stay only with Lily, or only with Cyanna, or only with Rose, or with Haylen, or with Shaila and Shanni, or with Lily and Cyanna. Giving the player the option to choose which girls to stay with would be too much, since there would be too many dialogues, situations, permutations, and possible outcomes. What if Leto doesn’t want to stay with any of them and only chooses the girl from Triple Trident’s game instead?
What I DO think would be great is having two variations: one where he forgives the girls and decides to repair his relationship with them, and another where he simply saves them but decides to move on and look for someone else to be happy with. Something similar to the two alternatives in the NTR ending. That would be much more plausible.

One thing I really hope for this time is that the happy ending has a lot more sex scenes for Leto, because let’s be honest—HC2’s happy ending practically only had four sex scenes: Noa x Celis, Noa x May, the Merith cuckold scene (Noa x Solana), and I know there’s one more but I don’t remember which. It was sort of compensated by the sex scenes in the revenge ending, where Noa had more participation, but in my opinion, out of 100% of the scenes in the whole game, Noa didn’t even participate in 20% of them. Saying he participated in 10–15% is already being generous. Edwyr had more participation in that regard—to the point where sometimes it felt like he was the protagonist of the story instead of Noa XD
I mean, okay, I understand N_Tai’s intention of using the protagonist as more of a spectator until a certain point in the story, where a breaking point defines the final route, but for the protagonist to only participate in 10–15% of the sex scenes is honestly way too little for me XD

I was wondering if this would help with the story but I had this random story going in my head while I was thinking about the game. I haven't played part 2 yet.
What if leto down the line catches cyanna fucking ulrod or hears from someone that cyanna is actually in love with ulrod and see's them in an uncomfortable position which leads to cyanna talking it out with leto and him agreeing on cyanna and ulrod relationship.
This situation reaches to roses ears and she gets all psychotic and stops having sex with Duke who gets pissed at leto and decides to end him since he is no longer a fun toy. He orders ulrod to kill him and ulrod asks jazen to do it and he agrees. Ulrod task jazen and leto with a scouting mission back to the hidden place and leto since he knows how to reach the place takes jazen and before they could reach the place jazen either pushes leto into a cavern or wounds him lethally and leaves him near a monsters cave or something.
Before leaving jazen reveal he has been fucking hayleen and princess has been cheating on leto while all this is happening jazen leaves because monsters keep coming towards their place and leaves leto to die near the cave.
But the cave turns out to be the place where the oath keepers goddess ( princess?! I forgot the name ) tomb is and she is now all corrupt and angry because of what the humans have being doing captures the dying leto in order to consume him but looks into his heart and see all the betrayal he has suffered and turn him into her champion. Past forward a few months or years and leto returns to conquer the kingdom.
You can branch out how you want to make it. This way the story might have a plot device where leto can either forgive the girls or make them his own sex slaves or leto loses and duke kills him

Yeah, Leto does need to feel like he's being rewarded for not being a giant piece of shit throughout the game, Leto is practically the only character who hasn't been an asshole at least once. It'd be nice to see Leto practically swimming in pussy. I want the happy ending to be a happy ending for Leto specifically not just a happy ending overall in large part due to my aforementioned belief that all of the main women aside from Lily have earned anything but happiness, assuming of course that Lily didn't have a massive heel turn in her final update.
Leto has rejected the notion of being a hero a couple of times in the game. So I think a fitting happy ending for him would be to actually be a hero and unable to deny it this time. In a world like Henteria one would assume that a side benefit of being an actual hero is an abundance of women.
I don't believe the subject of Haylen's specific age has ever been broached, but she's probably mid 30s to 40. I have a hard time accurately gauging her age because she's one of the flat out dumbest characters in the game and that makes it hard for me to believe that she's actually reached middle age without getting murdered in a back alley mugging gone wrong because she fell for an obvious scheme.

dennydarko In real life, yeah, everyone has their own preferences and pasts, and it’s totally fine. I’ve dated both virgin girls and experienced ones; both can be amazing or disastrous depending on the person. But Leto’s situation is completely different from everyday dating.
The four main girls aren’t just “girls with a bodycount”. We, as players, have front-row seats to everything they did. They slept unprotected with men they didn’t even like, supposedly to “protect” or “save” Leto… but then they changed.
Rose literally reshaped herself to fit the Duke’s mold. She now goes to him on her own, gives him priority over Leto, and even starts acting like him (using maids and subjects however she wants, getting jealous and punishing anyone too close to Leto). She knows it’s wrong, takes “good” resolutions… and immediately contradicts herself five minutes later because her new sexual needs win. At this point it’s not just duty anymore; she’s getting off on it and seeking it out.
Same with Cyanna: Ulrod treats her like a disposable toy, puts her life in danger without a second thought, yet she still runs to him. Helen and Lily are deeper in their own holes too. These aren’t “past partners from before the relationship”. These are repeated, ongoing choices while claiming they’re doing it for Leto. And the worst part? Not once do they imagine Leto’s face or call his name to make the act less awful. They just… enjoy it.
Leto, on the other hand, has stayed 100 % loyal. Never touched another girl, never even looked. He’s the definition of the BSS guy who’s loved Rose since childhood. So when the girls he trusted with his life get reshaped into something unrecognizable, a “pure” option like Shila (or any untouched girl) becomes the ultimate catharsis: someone who will never compare him to the Duke, never throw an ex in his face during a fight, never make him wonder if she secretly prefers the guy who ruined her.
That’s why, in this specific game, the “clean-slate waifu” fantasy hits so hard. It’s not about real-life morality; it’s about giving Leto (and the player) one single relationship that isn’t poisoned from the start.
So yeah, if Shila suddenly had a wild corrupt past? I could still accept her if she genuinely broke free and proved her loyalty. But right now the appeal is that she represents the one thing the main four lost forever: innocence and zero betrayal baggage.
All that said, the ideal would obviously be real choices in the endings: forgive/rebuild with whoever earned it, harem, or walk away with the pure route. Let the player decide what’s forgivable instead of forcing one “correct” happy ending. That’s the only way everyone leaves satisfied.
What do you think: after everything we’ve seen, is there any amount of regret/growth that could still make Rose (or the others) feel redeemable to you, or is the damage just too deep at this point?
