what patch is the steam version? it doesn't say anywhere. how do updates work? do we get the 19 patch or the 20 patch? is it synced with the $5? i don't care about the extra $20 stuff. i just want to know the delay between the $5 version and the steam release/updates
The current Steam version is the exact same as the current Patreon version story-wise. From now on, the Steam version will be updated once every 2 Patreon updates, although the Steam version will see some delay compared to the Patreon release since it takes some time to modify the Patreon version and make it fit the Steam one.
And there's no way to try and give Steam buyers an in for the patreon updates? I decided to grab the Steam release as opposed to resubbing to the patreon and it would have been nice to know going in that the updates were going to be half as common.

I mean, if i was N_Taii, i would've probably done the same, or at least something similar, i'm sure that there's a considerable amount of people on patreon that are only paying the monthly subs because they wanna get their hands on the update as soon as possible, and not because they wanna support the dev or anything like that, and so if n_taii, or in this hypothehical me, was to offer a way for them to cough up 11 bucks once and then get every future update as soon as it gets released, or worst case scenario 5 days after the release, then i would be just shooting myself in the foot cause i'd probably lose more money as a result from patreon than what i'd gain from steam.
However on the other hand, the game would be much more popular on Steam probably.
What i would've done, i think, is that i would've waited until i finish the game and then release it as a whole on steam so that i wouldn't have to manage any future updates, and people wouldn't cause me headaches with questions similar to the ones being posted here. xd

That was one of the reasons why I didn't buy the Steam version yet, it seems to me that the Patreon post N_taii had said that the Steam version would take a while to update because he has to make some changes adapted on the platform and that it would surely be updated every two Patreon updates, which means that Steam players will be more behind.
Although well, as we are already entering the final arc of the game it won't be very noticeable, and I still have plans to buy the Steam version, maybe I will do it for the final version of the game, but for now I feel comfortable in Patreon because I personally like to support the creator (although there are months in which for personal reasons I have to cancel my subscription).
Basically, yes, that $20 Patreon version, but the difference is that not all the extra scenes are available yet.
From what N_taii says only the "most relevant" extra scenes are in the Steam version, but keep in mind that the extra scenes don't have much relevance to the story, they are just that.... Extra scenes hahaha, the vast majority are of secondary characters.
Of the main girls only Rose and Cyanna have extra scenes where they are the main characters (Cyanna's scene for me is one of the best in the game), so I guess those will be in the Steam version.
In HC2 all the main girls had an extra scene each one, I don't know if for HC3 is the same, Haylen and Lily still don't have an extra scene, or if Rose and Cyanna will get at least another extra scene.
Edit: I just remembered that in the last PoL, N_taii already said that the extra scene would be for Rose along with the Duke and the maids, so I guess that means that maybe there could be another extra scene for Cyanna before the finals or during the finals. If I remember correctly N_taii also said that the last update before starting the endings would be for Cyanna.

Indeed. It takes some time to get a Patreon version "Steam ready" (removing all links, modifying the reminiscence room and making sure it doesn't create any bugs, and other stuff I can't remember right now). I'm already late enough as it is with Patreon updates, I'd rather avoid being even more late by having to do that every single update.
I might find a way to streamline it so it's quicker so I can do it for every update instead, but as you said, we're getting near the end so it shouldn't matter all that much.
That's right too. All main characters' extra scenes ar ein the Steam version. I also try to be constant with what characters had their scenes in the Steam version, meaning that if I add one Anna-Lisa extra scene, I'll try to add all of them. And in the same vein, some characters will be skipped over, like Naevyr. I'm thinking about having a Steam patch that will add all the remaining scenes at some point.
I might have said that somewhere, but then I don't remember. Thing is, I'm not sure who will be the focus of the last update before the endings.

Well, first, they should know better than to call a duck a "Goat"! Blasphemy!
I'm not sure I can help restore your save that was lost to the Old Gods, but you can always pick up one of those included in the save files for Update 19 and prior, and then use the walkthrough if you're not sure how to transfer them.
You cannot, however, transfer a save from part.1 to part.2, if that's what you're asking? It would certainly mess up the game. Part.2 starts right at the end of part.1 anyway, so you wouldn't have to transfer anything if you've finished all the game's content up until now. You can start a new game right away and it'll pick up from where you started.
If you're asking about the passwords though, since you've lost your save, your best bet would be to pick one of the three passwords at the end of the walkthrough and enter it when prompted at the start of part.2.
Since I wasn't sure what your issue was, I offered several potential answers. I hope one of them matched what you were expecting.
