I just realized I still had the potentially infected version. I downloaded the PC port from either pixeldrain or gofile (can't remember which was available).

So yeah, I compared the file I had with the OP clean version using various tools (winmerger, meld, etc.) and found them to be stricly identical everytime.

So if you're like me and downloaded that version, it's a whole less likely anything happened. At least it's what I believe, im not a security expert, so do what you want with that information.

Anyways, I'm never again downloading a day zero update. Lost myself a whole afternoon and some years due to stress fml

I personally never download anything on day 0, (I feel like the image of Squidward looking at Sponge Bob and Patrick running outside) the only possibility I can consider downloading something on day 0 is on the dev's own itch io or similar.(and even then I probably won't download it, because there are always bugfixes)

I was on the no futa route, so the game said something about seeing things from another character's perspective since I have it turned off. Yet no matter what I picked, it still had a scene where you interact with Max, kissing their bulge. Stopped there and lost all interest.

4 out of the 5 people who reported issues mentioned they were on Mac, so perhaps that's the only one that was adulterated?

Because I can't let go, I asked the nice people of the malware thread, if it was enough. They indicated I should check the hash file. And so the hash strings between the two files were also identical, so even less reason to fear about the PC verison.

So don't hesite to check that thread, really useful information and also it keeps up to date with verified infections (they are fast to answer also when you want to quickly check a suspicious file).

Thanks for looking into that. I posted about this situation in the Developers forum and someone suggested including a hash along with the links. I might start doing that going forward.

The Mega Mac one from the first post in this thread.

The malicious files have a newer timestamp than all other files in the zip, so it very much looks like it was altered in post.

Someone added a fake asyncio binary into the bundled python3.11 libs and hooked it up via an additional snippet in script.rpy. The additional binary triggers the download/script execution and tries to upload the results.

I deleted the game from my Mac after noticing the popup and didn't enter anything.

Should I be more concerned/take more serious action or am I fine now? Not sure how big this infection was or how deep it got.

I say run a complete virus scan of your computer (be sure not to use it while it's scanning) and then see if there are any more suspicious files. Most likely you won't have anything to worry about to begin with, but trust me as I say, it never hurts to make sure! It's always, always better to be safe than sorry.

Oh, and if you do happen to find anything "sus" during the scan, just change your most vital passwords and you will be A-OK, friend.

I think the pixeldrain site for windows have an virus thread issue, when I try to download it with idm I got warning sign of virus

It prevents her path from happening. She still exists in the story but there's no sexy content with her.
