This is a joke right?
1) All the FMCs prior to Act 3 are literally "traumatized girls" in different niches. The new FMCs after act 3 are there for some reason I guess to sign off on more NTR scenario checkmarks but idk about "traumatized" since I haven't played the entirety of act 3.
- Cecille has childhood trauma -> desire for power and shit -> bonds with Mars over this shit
- Sera has abandonment issues but somewhat overcomes it through her love with Erin but it gets tested by the original scenario
- Elena's whole training arc is her becoming a slut due to a retarded irrational self-inflicted trauma + the fact she is basically just a horny widow who pretends to be pious.
etc.
2) There is literally 0 consequences for the hero getting cucked despite the build up drama that the goddess will burn the world down in Act 1 if it gets exposed. In fact this shit gets so highschool level of drama retarded that 3 different goddesses give the "It's okay now go turn Erin gay" sign of approval. Even prior to Mars and Cecille having sex it was clear as day that the author just straight up ignored her part about loving Erin to "loving" Erin and wrote her to be the internally struggling highschool miss perfect who needed mr perfect (especially a muscular, black, big dick nick Mr. Perfect who is also a demon) to sweep her off her feet and make everything right. Holy shit in fact if we switched this game to "Highschoolers Must Fall" and just make Erin a needy 3rd wheel petite girl friend of Cecille almost nothing would fucking change in terms of main story plot points between the trio. The only well written NTR scenario in this game is Sera and even then the author fucks it up by not letting her kill herself in front of the party after telling Erin the truth of what was happening behind his back and her love for him. Instead she just becomes harem member #3. Imagine Mars actually having to face consequences instead of highschool level drama of tip toeing around an annoying 3rd wheel pipsqeek.
3) As described above the game is literally a full on fantasy harem... almost every single character with a real character sprite gets fucked by Mars and put into his, now, ever growing harem.
It's literally a harem romance game masked as Netori. Admittingly the plot prior to 0.3 was very good and had a lot of room to grow into a real NTR corruption game if some minor plot changes were added such as making it that Cecille actually loved Erin. However, as it stands there is basically 0 "corruption" just a magic mindrape rape power fantasy on essentially everyone but Cecille. As for Cecille, Mars is literally written to be her Mr. Perfect (again muscular, big dick, and a demon) and all the dialogue between them is literally a highschool tsun tsun telling her problems to her crush in bed as he whispers sweet nothings in her ear. Hell i'm half convinced if Mars secretly told Cecille he was a demon prior to 0.3 that she would have fucked him even faster even if she wasn't "cursed".
As for better written NTR (aside from Netori) games I can't come up with anything. This is mainly due to the fact that, IMO, NTR (aside from Netori) as a whole cannot be anything more than a short story (5 chapters max if we're talking doujins) if it wants to be great otherwise it just turns into a shitty story. More specifically, anything more and it starts loosing focus turning into a mess of mixing various genres (which would do better in isolation) to reach some checkmark high point unless you specially want to put yourself into the POV of the man getting cucked. Sure you can keep adding new characters like this game but then it starts to eat itself alive turning into a pure harem since you can basically never develop a good enough plotline between all the characters involved. Alternatively, old characters are just thrown away like some sort of Xianxia where the MC goes onwards to fuck up other relationships while the previous ones are mentioned in fleet, passing text dumps. This method keeps the story "alive" but it's more akin to beating a dead horse.
If we're talking about non-NTR games then a couple of them with good stories on this website are:
- Once in a Lifetime
- Being a DIK
- Acting Lessons
- A Struggle with Sin
- Dilmur
- Desert Stalker
Lastly, for clarity, I cannot give Hero Party Must Fall anything other than above average because it does just that; being above average. Almost every single H-game isn't going to have the next shakesphere level of writing and we all know we don't really play expecting that. However, HPMF had a chance to be an interesting twist on the classic hero vs demon king story but instead we get, as I stated before, a romance harem disguised as a netori story where demons are actually "good guys" and humans are "bad guys" and everything in life is actually "grey". Now consequences may play out in a 11/10 way but as it stands so far those events are supposed to be the "ending" and based on how Erin's murder-hobo scene was copped out into him turning into a femboy for Mars for act 3 I don't have any high hopes. I in fact believe Mars is going to go "god mode" and fuck all 3 goddesses and then everyone lives happily ever after in most of the endings. Maybe 1 or 2 bad endings but they are going to be quickly rushed like Erin is given super saiyan powers or some shit for one final strike in vengence -> Mars dead or heavily injuried and never able to recover properly.
Dude, this is exactly where the difference is between a basic Harem game and this one.
The girls are traumatized, sure, but their life goals actually grow out of that, with ups and downs. Because they each have a personal goal, they go through corruption to reach it, even while they’re denying that goal at the same time.
From a writing standpoint, that’s the whole difference: you move a character to tell something meaningful, not just to fill empty space.
In the top-rated games on the site, the girls are “traumatized” too, but their life choices have nothing to do with it. Like in
"Being a Dik" with Maya : she has a rough past, but her daily life isn’t shaped by that at all. She acts like a normal college girl except for her money problems.
Meanwhile Cecile in this game, everything she does is driven by something she wants to prove about her past.
Here, you’re actually watching the characters get heavier and more layered, instead of just watching the Drama escalate into something more and more “epic” while the heroes basically have white-knight plot armor running through their veins.
The devs create a character because they actually want to say something with them. Compared to 99% of the top-rated Harem games, where they make a character first and then try to glue something “edgy/epic” on top just to make them look interesting. That’s the difference.
Are all the characters’ actions ultra-credible? Are some things rushed? I don’t know, that depends on your taste.
But does the game explore actual facets of the characters? Yes. So it’s well written, it’s relevant.
We’re not stuck for 5 years repeating the same dialogues with characters who go nowhere unless the Drama arc shows up.
I love Desert Stalker, THE best Dom game on the site, but its drama and its serious characters are at zero points. For the fun/FAPPING side, it’s amazing, sure, but otherwise it’s fast-forward city. And the rest of your list is the same.
This game, even without the fapping side, could honestly be a very good book, because it’s not complex for the sake of being complex, and the characters move forward every time they appear without unnecessary fluff.
The only other game that could pull something like that off is Katawa Shoujo, and funny enough, it’s not even a fapping game.
