some characters (mona, alice, etcetera) just can't be given supporting hilichurls. i assume for balancing reasons.
I'm asking because i need teams for conquer liyue, and people suggested me hu-tao. I assumed i coud make some teams with her. Never expected there were characters without team comp.

If you want more cicins, you can farm them in the Chasm. Wave 2 is always Cicin mages, sometimes three, sometimes four.
Yeah until I read it on here I didn't know you could enter the Chasm. I only played to the end once, and that was on easy with 1.0.1. I didn't see the enter option on Chasm and I always had units on it to have it fully occupied and 100% conquered, so there were also no units that just spawned on the overworld map for me.
I'll keep the Chasm in mind when I do a future playthrough, though I imagine Cicin mages will likely become a main unit in Inazuma (adding cryo into the mix - currently there are electro and hydro in the game iirc), so they should be easier to farm there.

how do you sacrifice hilichurls manually? i can only find slave sacrifice in the altar.
When you hover mouse cursor on the right side one of the menu options is your hilichurl list (white logo), there you select the ones you want to sacrifice and at the botton right you have 3 options: sacrifice 1 unit, 30% of units or all units of specific hilichurl

Is there no tutorial in game? It seems like it just threw you in and expected you to know what things were with zero explanation.
Nope. The part with Ella Musk at the beginning is all you get.
But you can use the guide in my signature. Which is also linked in the opening post.
And don't forget the text file included in the game, which is developer's version of a guide.

I suggest you go do that so you can get your 28th maiden in that case. Make sure to bring some people with capture abilities.

i mean, to be fair, the characters that can't have supporting teams are usually fucking overpowered. like alice, constantly throwing bombs everywhere, or hu-tao, with her literal immortality, or mona, with her stealth invisibility. it's balancing, i guess. and it's not like you can't use spooky fire ghost girl alongside other hilichurl teams, you just can't add supporting hilichurls to her.

alright, for the nth fucking time now i've tried to take over mondstadt using the most powerful units i have. literally the best units i can get at this time doing the most amount of damage i can possibly do.

so why, in the sweet loving fuck, can't i even damage them?

first the round starts off with venti shooting some wind at me, no hesitation, not even a blink. okay, i can deal. then jean comes sweeping in with those bullshit 150 power SHIELDED elite knights, and instantly smacks around some of my units, lowering their initiative so they can't do anything. okay, just weather it and then counter attack, i can do that.

then venti decides to shoot a big ass tornado at my team, sucking in the whole group FROM EVERY CORNER OF THE MAP, doing consistent, ridiculous damage to them. those that weren't shielded die fucking immediately, those that don't have their initiative lowered AGAIN, so they can't do anything that turn either.

then, of course, jean comes sweeping back in, doing one attack and hitting three seperate units, killing them all instantly.

i can't even do wave tactics because they're all. fucking' shielded. not a scratch on them, but my elite units reduced to atoms.

this. is. on. easy mode. did i forget to mention that?

to the game: what the fuck

to the game's creator: *inhale* what the fuck.

EDIT: oh, that's right, i forgot to mention the biggest bullshit of this all! even if i do, through some miracle hand-delivered by the angel gabriel himself, manage to do damage, THEY HEAL. WHY THE FUCK DO THEY HEAL ON EVERY. MOVE. THEY DO!?
So here's what I did that worked on hard mode. First this is a siege so build waves of hilichurls with the intent that they will die chipping away at the defenses (Took me 5 full stacked squads to finally punch through). First wave's priority is getting down one, maybe two of the orbs. You do this by having a set of two shielded horned hilichurls who's sole purpose is to keep the knights distracted. Next bring at least two noctyl archers with a full battery of noctyl slimes. This is very important as they can shoot twice from a range of 3 if they don't have to move which also puts the corruption debuff on them. Finally bring 3 archers with preferably their own slimes but if not at least a full line of hilichurl meat shields to keep them alive, their purpose is to trigger the elemental reaction which creates a health down tick on the noctyl marked ones. Time and distance are of the essence in the first few fights, because if Jean gets her heal off around round 3 all your work is undone so focus fire to the exclusion of all else. Also tempting as it may be do not attack the fleeing villager girls, as they eat up space Jean and the knight squad can use, which might buy you more time to deliver a finishing blow.

Once you've trudged through that and gotten venti plus the orbs down now the attrition battle truly begins. Again bring a green shaman (or an ice one for platforms) and try to bait Jean away from her knights, she needs to stay at least 3 hexes away in order for them to not receive her healing. This will require at least 3 shielded horned hilichurl squads (two to keep Jean pushed back and one for the knights to attack) and or green shaman vines incase she tries to mad dash to her buddies. Sometimes you might need to reload the start of the battle if rng has them too clumped up to easily separate. You will likely lose an entire team to take out eachknight squad given the squirliness of aggro control and given how much distance Jean can cover when hasted. For the final battle against jean solo you want to pull in the corrupted heroes for this plus one or two noctyl slime boyz.

Keep in mind in addition to all of this you need to be upgrading your troop training like crazy, I managed to finally break Jean with 6 hp, 6 attack, 3 defense and over 14 elemental resistance, and even that was a goddamn struggle. Best of luck.

Could you please explain this? Maybe I'm just un-observant, but it seemed to me that Nycto just prevented elemental resonances from occurring. Corrosion didn't seem to trigger any extra damage. Is this not the case?

oh, i just threw alice at them. the problem went away pretty quickly after that. now i'm stuck on morax, because that shield just wont go down and i dont wanna risk alice dying to him.

Even if she does, there is a revival mechanic at the altar, so you can get her back.

Either build up Nycto Lawachurls, or spam geo slimes on your best damage units like nycto samachurls/mitachurls. Morax is a boss you breed your way past.

Try to take out Ganyu if you can, because while morax is annoying with the shield, she's worse due to her burst and constant cryo spam.

Yeah so normally when you trigger a resonance it does melt or something similar with an extra bit of flat damage. However most of the elite knights are heavily resistant to most elemental damage types. But when you trigger nycto resonance it causes a dot trigger at the start of their turn which is the one element they basically never are resistant to. this is also important because it counters any inherent healing the knights do, keeping them from amping back up as their turn starts up. Also typically people will have more red/blue slimes than nycto ones, so you can fill up archer squads of them easier for double hits every turn instead of a single weaker hit with the elemental bow. You can also trigger the nycto resonance with shamans, but usually your shamans are busy pumping out mines or building platforms so better to use the more available archers to do the trigger. Keep in mind you don't need a ton of them, just enough to trigger on each of the knights to keep them from being able to recover, and since this damage triggers after they heal but before they take a turn, they won't hit your guard units as hard because they won't have recovered their squad numbers so they can stay up longer to keep the formation from collapsing.
