I've never been to Japan, but a rule against relationships seems to be really fucking retarded. I can't answer your question, but where I'm from, I think we've got rules against that too, especially when considering the legal age part of your question and the context of a older person in a position of authority being in a (sexual) relationship with a much younger person. Not gonna input my opinion if that's right or wrong, of course. And I dunno where everyone else is from either, so I can't really say if that's a more common rule.

Note: I have NOT played this game. I just randomly found this comment and want to reply to it, but I don't have any knowledge or background here, so with that being said, here is my opinion on this:
on one hand, beggers can't be choosers. I'm happy when people translate shit for me. So personally, I wouldn't trash talk them over it.
But on the other hand, it also kinda rubs me the wrong way. Example: Have you heard of people on twitter, taking someones fanart and changing it, like swapping skin/race or whatever and repost it, saying "I fixed it?"
Or people translating manga and changing the story a little or race or skin or lore or other stuff to insert their fetishes and agenda?
This is essentially the same thing. If a translater changes shit like this then it rubs me the wrong way.
again; not as hard that I would go out of my way to trash talk the dude, since I'm glad I get a free translation in the first place, but still.
All in all, I don't think it's a good idea. But yeah it is what it is. I'm not too mad about stuff like this.
HOWEVER: One thing I really wish for is when people do that, they should at least disclose it. For example when you click "New Game" it shows a message, telling you "hey im translator blabla support me on my patreon blabla btw I changed the story/character/lore a little bit, check out the readme in the folder for further details"

By the way, you're the one who brought the whole "next time I can privatize it", I was just jumping on it.

Are you referring to reality or fiction? If you're referring to reality, in Japan, schools are for studying, therefore romantic relationships are prohibited in schools. It all depends on the type of school. The more prestigious it is, the stricter it is in both rules and academics. Prohibiting romance is not the norm. It depends on the school. Some prohibit it only on campus, while others prohibit it even when you're outside. But we're talking about schools. If we're talking about universities, they are more permissive in that regard.
It is understood that schools are places to focus on studies and not a place to find a girlfriend. This is convenient for the NTR plot since it is a blackmail element.
What happens if they discover you? They expel you. What will your parents say about, all the money your parents paid or your club......... and then you have a NTR plot . Well, we all know what happens. It is quite common for there to be couples, but for reasons of prohibition, they tend to remain in secret.

Yeah, that's the feedback I've been getting. Honestly though, I do change at least a few things in almost every game I've translated. It'd be silly to name everything I've changed. However, as obviously stated, I've never done it to this extent, and I'll absolutely be providing some sort of disclosure in the future. Thanks for being civil.

To me this specific topic is different because I would have had no opportunity to enjoy this game without this translator doing what they did. I can enjoy someone's fanart, or manga that has good translations, or whatever. This game? Literally would have never known it exists without the translator, and I can almost guarantee you that the original developer has absolutely no plans to allow me to enjoy it (AKA do their own translation) - unless of course they hear about this and decide to do one out of spite lol, but then I think my argument still holds - would not have been able to consume without the translator's actions
I think we're saying the same thing otherwise.

Because the translator's job is to accurately translate the original work's meaning and intent. How far do you want to take the translator's liberties? Changing the age? Changing the entire story? In a way, he kind of did even if it is still functionally the same.
The furthest translators typically go is replacing some meanings/symbolism/jokes that are way too culturally specific to know or understand. And even then that's debatable.
However, this translator did it for free and on their own time so this is more or less a fanfiction. I personally dislike 'games' that just use established IP characters/setting. Seems disrespectful at worst and lazy at best.

Personally I found the translator's self insert as the nerd funny lmao but the game being a save scum was too much of a tl;dr so i skipped through mid way. Really great job with the translations though it was pretty comedic and entertaining,but the way the game is designed throwing you right in the gallery viewer kinda doesn't make you wanna earn the scenes
idk what ya'll yapping about, stop writing thesis over a h game,go gpt4 with mtool or something if you're so keen on contextual accuracy over a hour long casual goon game
