So basically instead of working on the final chapter, the dev is abandoning it to focus on their new game?

No they're just talking mad shit. Primary focus has been on this the entire time, but it was always planned to be two games and so some work has been done over time on the sequel since the start. The only thing that happened here was chapter 8 was split into two updates (part 1 and part 2) and they decided it was best to just not do that again and instead make chapter 9 into two separate chapters 9 and 10 to finish off the game.
Couldn't agree with you more. For example, this is more or less what happened with Good Girl Gone Bad years ago.
GGBD had a huge number of fans (and still sits atop many filter lists for likes, watches, etc. here on F95zone too) but once it finished, the F95zone users weren't loyal or patient. Even though the very nice and generous dev (Eva Kiss) waited to announce their new game Our Red String until GGBD was complete, the conversion rate of those fans to Our Red String was a comparatively small fraction. Fickle and far too fair-weather, they dumped Eva Kiss like they'd done nothing for them and moved onto other games rather than support Our Red String's development.
That example and many others like it were lessons to F95zone devs about how they should release content if they want to maintain interest and heaven forbid, some modicum of monetary recompense.
If we're being honest, it's also how a lot of SFW mobile games work too. I don't fault Seez and Holdcraft Chronicles for exploring similar survival strategies.

Nope, Luna isnt a sequel, or its linked to aki, it a complete new game, where the aki characters will make some minor cameo here and there, not something big. Seez plan since the beggining was made luna, aki was a way to him to learn rpg maker. He isnt abandoning the game, its just that he want to make the demo build for luna to have a good chunk of content, so its a little hard to work in both games, so he plan to do some little att in aki at the same time.

Made two saves. One before the start of ch 8(the competition event for a reminder of what happens) and another at the end of the chapter, when you can start ch 9. Hopefully it works...
Sorry for the stupid question since my English isn't that good but I got a little lost at the end of chapter 9, can someone explain it to me?

Weekly Update Sept 8th 2025
Alright with THR: Aki CH9 out it’s time to actually start talking about HR: Luna in these weekly posts. But first let’s go over what the plan is for THR: Aki going forward.
For the foreseeable future the plan is to continue adding scenes to Aki. There are about 6 main story scenes that need to happen and a few minor story scenes. Each update from now on is going to have 2 scenes in it 1 Story scene and 1 voted scene. This will allow me the flexibility to work on both projects at the same time and not burn myself out.
Once all the story scenes are in I’ll reassess what the Aki updates will entail. The goal is to have the “end game” of THR Aki be an open map where you can explore and engage with different repeatable sex scenes. This means that pretty much anything goes. If there is a scene idea that you want you can send it to me via Discord in the #scene-suggestions channel. I’ll be posting the first vote details some time tomorrow.
With that said, it’s time that I start pivoting into working on HR: Luna as my main focus. I’ve been stopping myself from seriously working on the next game because I knew if I did I would probably never finish THR: Aki. My goal is to never do that to my audience. I’ll cut content if I have to, but I will always make sure it gets to a decent state for you guys.
Over the next 8ish weeks I’ll be working on HR: Luna with the goal of getting a playtestable version of the town gameplay loop made. The combat and story will not be in this playtest. The playtest will be a massively sped up version of what will take place over the full story. It’s there to demonstrate what that gameplay loop will look like. Briar’s town portion will not be in this test.
From my understanding the developer wanted to finish Aki all the way through but there was some content planned that might have resulted in being banned from Subscribestar. Rather than risking it was decided to go this route and work on Luna instead which is planned to be a more "vanilla" game than was planned for Aki.

It seems to me she is more trying to play the role of a bad person in the interest of Aki, you can see her guilt thorough most of the scene

A bit of both. She's a genuinely bad person and has always enjoyed getting one over on Jake. But she was acting this way in aid of some master plan and was probably masking some guilt.
I'd say on a scale of felt bad to didn't feel bad at all. Aurora and Misaki were at the completely guilt ridden and barely able to keep up the act side of the scale. Whereas Pearl and Elaina are at the needlessly cruel end of the scale. With Nicole fitting right into the middle.
I think the people who deserved to get splatted by Aki got a full hit of the magic blast. While Prudence and Aurora got shielded because karmic justice was a little more lenient in their favour.

Gosh, like, that chapter 9 ending was really quite... hurtful to go through. Especially with Aki being the players/readers perspective, aka you/me and Nichole being the "love interest". Really feeling quite bummed out about it.
I hope chapter 10 comes soon and makes up for it, otherwise I might be, like, gnawing on this for a while.
I'm especially hoping for...
I could say more, especially about Gideon and how out of place he is in, like, man(l)y ways, and him and Elaina could be merged into a less awful character, but maybe another time, or when chapter 10 made me sad, which I hope it won't, of course. I think the game could benefit from some story paths and choices. Gosh, I hope its not going to be a memory-wipe or "It was just a dream"-type ending.
Gonna, like, withhold a rating for now, but it would be a 1 star just based on how the ninth chapter ends and the feelings it left me with. I would like to give 4-5, despite there being some scenes and characters that feel off to me, and me usually not really liking netorare content, especially on the receiving end, but a lot of Female Protagonist content involves it. So...
Maybe if chapter 10 is good? <3
