1) What OS are you on?
2) How many TTF-type files are in your game's folder? There should be 3 in the ren'py folder and one specific to the game:
freescpt in the game's 'game' folder and three others in renpy/common: DejaVuSans, DejaVuSans-Bold and _OpenDyslexic3-regular, like so:

3) Have you changed any color settings for anything? You may have blocked the color the font is in for the messages.

nope, never changed the color settings, before 0.3.0.0+ the texts was normal, after the update they dissapeared, i have the exe of a 0.3.0.0 on my pc and i cant see the text there too

Just to make sure - none of 0.3.0.0, 0.3.1.0 or 0.3.1.1 work?
Could mean there's something wrong with some general configuration on your system for Renpy or graphics, but if you have no other problems in any app/game, that's unlikely.

A few more ideas:
1) What language is standard on your PC? It's not unheard of for a language to muck with a font.
2) Do you have any problems like this with any other Renpy games? You may have mentioned this before, but just confirming.
3) If you are using the standard EXE, does it work with the 32-bit? This one's a total guess.
4) Only because this has solved other odd problems in the past: Does changing the renderer change anything?
-- Press Shift+G when the game starts, and try at least one GL and one ANGLE renderer to see if anything changes. This could point to a problem with your drivers causing some issue.
5) What is your GPU make/model, and are the drivers up to date?

2- nope, never had any problems with any RenPy games
3- standard one, just tried now the 32 bits and the problem is still there
4- tried the 4 options and all have the same error (never saw that screen before...)
5- nvidia geforce 1060 6gb, as far as i know its updated, but im downloading the update again to be sure


(ps.:just for saying, i realized that the "schedule" screen dont have text too, just the icon to change hours)

Quick experiment - due to your answer to #1 - do you have any way of testing it with English on the system? Just to see if there's some weird font-changing happening? I know this can be intrusive, so I apologize for asking.

I'm not surprised about your PS, given it would be a similar situation - Text projected over a secondary window on the screen. But where I'm not following is how some of it is visible, while some not. That's why I'm thinking it's a graphics/rendering issue for color or language. It would be interesting to know exactly what RGB colors DH1 uses to see if you have a problem with those specifically.

EDIT: I suppose layering could be involved, but again, that doesn't follow with you being able to see some text and not other.

EDIT 2: On second thought, I don't think RGB is involved, because much of the text looks pure white (#FFFFFF), and that would work under most any circumstance.

Last thing - What happens when you click on one of the portraits from the watch to hold that character's stats on the screen? There should be words on that as well, is it visible?

nah, dont worry, the portuguese characters are basically the same of english plus ç á and similars, but if this was the problem, the entire game wouldnt show texts and other RenPy games too

I'm curious because I think that is the same size and color as the missing white text in the tasks (it's close at least).

About the font: You are correct, they are almost universally translatable for the big-market fonts (Arial, Times New Roman, etc.). And by my admission, it seems an unlikely culprit. However, there are different sizes and colors so I'm trying to narrow down if there is a specific combination that appears to be at fault here.

I don't think this has ever been an issue for any player, so forgive the grasping at straws.

Here's a dumb idea: This ZIP has some modified font files (TTF), as well as the original versions of the fonts (TTF_ORIG). They are the ones from renpy/common (I changed these files and the text in the game changed).

Replace the fonts with these, and see if anything changes (it will be hard to read, but we're just seeing if the missing text shows at all).

Yes, there is a schedule for birdwatching. Ask reception for the details.
What is your operation system version ?
Edit : try the game from an install where you didn't use Unren.

found the culprit...
i downloadded and unzipped the version 0.3.1.0 and the patch 0.3.1.1 and the messages was still invisible, but i renamed the folder and created a new one and now i can see them

That begs the question, which option(s) in UnRen did you try and run? If it was more than just extracting the RPA packages, then chances are you missed the warnings about using UnRren, here in this thread and on page 12 of the Companion Guide. Not saying you did anything wrong, but hopefully your problem can be avoided by others.

Glad everything worked out for you and you now have fully functional game.

Option 9 decompile the .rpyc files, that is what caused your issue and why the patch wasn't working.
Only use option 1 to extract the images.
