When I had language troubles in my beginnings (started with HS1, then HS2 R4) I remember that the language selection in InitSetting doesn´t really work.
Anyway did you try this?

Hi, I recently downloaded & installed Better Repack 8.1. It has worked fine when using Studio and Character Maker but when I tried playing the HS2 game it works fine apart from when I try to exit a sex scene. The exit button doesn't work. The only way of closing I can then see is to press Esc and lose any progress. I start up via InitSetting.exe. I've rebooted and it makes no difference.
Any ideas as to how to fix this?

What is it that causes bodies to be misaligned, mostly oral, during sex animations, when creating a character card? Changing the body/head size afterwards does not fix this, and I have also noticed this with other peoples cards.

Reduce the number of characters in the file path, most "cannot find the path specified" errors are because the file name is too long for Windows to handle. A file path can only have 256 characters, including spaces. Try renaming the files to just the game name plus the Better Repack version number, so Honey Select 2 DX R7.

Also, that is an old version, R8.1 is the current version, try here

As Alex recommended create a game folder on the top of a drive and extract direct without any subfolders like "ScrewThisNoise......" or so.

Strongly recommended is 7Zip (freeware) for extracting, it´s known WINRar doesn´t extract all files.

Upon launching the game the language is still in Japanese.., does anyone have a English language file I can paste in somewhere or are there any other solutions?

Use Windows 10 or 11 or play different games with Linux support. I'm surprised you even managed to run the game in Japanese.

I have a linux OS, I use wine with games that don't have linux libraries. So can't really use windows 10/11.

I don´t know how far Linux is a problem (I´m on WIN10 and never had troubles with the Repacks), but maybe this can help you

Is there any way during gameplay, via mod or otherwise, that allows you to keep the characters from closing their eyes? There was an older Manly Marco Mod that apparently did just that, but it was never updated as far as I could find out.

What did you use to extract it? I had a similar problem when using a couple of other extractors, then tried 7-Zip and it worked fine. Not sure why the problem with the others but worth trying 7-Zip if you haven't already.
