In the case of Honeymoon Island, the protagonist's face only really appears framed in the renders in about 15% of them (about 65 renders), in the other 85% of the images the focus is either on the girls, or the protagonist is purposely facing backwards or something. The fact that he has a moustache and is almost always wearing sunglasses is deliberate, the idea being to hide his “identity” as much as possible.
As for the MC appearing in the images instead of being totally anonymous, I personally do that because otherwise the framing of the images becomes a nightmare.
Take this image, for example:

The purpose of this image is to show that Ellen is starting to get so comfortable exchanging intimacies with the MC that she no longer realizes she needs to hide it. That's why I positioned the camera like this, behind Angela's back, showing that from her point of view, Ellen and the MC are behaving like a couple. If I could never show the MC's face, every trivial scene like this would become a puzzle to be solved, where the protagonist's face would always need to be hidden, but in such a way that the images would look natural (in many cases, this is basically impossible to do). In hentai games, authors often simply don't draw the protagonist's face, leaving his head empty, which works well in stylized art, but would look bizarre and creepy as fuck in a more photorealistic image.
Of course, it's not impossible to do, but if you want to make a game where the MC's face never appears, then you need to create an appropriate style for it and follow it to the letter. I think the easiest way to solve this in the case of realistic images is to make all the pics in first person, like those “gonzo” porn movies, where the camera tries to simulate the view of the man. This is good for making something more immersive too, but I personally think it limits what you can do with the images too much, so I don't like this style.
Now about the fact that the male characters in my games always look stupid, ugly, distracting, comical, etc., I do that kind of on purpose, I'll be honest here. I don't usually play other “wegs”, especially those made with assets from DAZ Studio, but I've obviously seen renders, screenshots of the most famous ones and it seems to me that it's common for the protagonist to be a “pretty boy” with a clean-shaven body, kind of like a stereotype of a male fashion model. I want to distance myself from this idea. Of course, it generates rejection, but I personally have always seen myself as someone who makes games for niches, so I don't mind too much. Even so, I don't like displeasing people, so I try, whenever possible, to give the player the option of trying to adjust their experience. That's why I'm going to give them the option of removing the MC's moustache.
