I'm sorry, but I've never ported the game to Linux, so I still have no idea why this bug is happening, but I'll try my best to fix it in a future update, as I still plan to come back with the Android port (which so far suffers from the same problem).

That door is locked for me. Did I somehow softlock myself without realizing it or am I missing a key or something?

You need some keys.
Get the dayroom key out of the safe (the combo's on the first page of the thread if you can't work it out).
Go to the door opposite the one I called out as the kitchen, then run through the resulting room (up to you if you avoid the nurses or get railed by them, but I know what I'm here for)
Run to the very last cell on the bottom (mesh floor, shit hanging from the ceiling). Snag one of the hooks in here.
Go back to the previous room, activate the hole in the floor to use the hook to fish out the kitchen key.

Wait really?! I thought that hole was just part of the background, How was anyone supposed to know that? As far as I could tell, there's no indication you're supposed to do that.

I forget if it's there before you grab the hook, but there's definitely a sparkle effect in there afterwards
