So I decided to play this as a Halloween thing, but... I have to say, the name ends up being a bit misleading. Between the name and title picture, I was expecting more of a slasher type of thing, but the game itself is downright cute! Being tied up by cats? Playing the slave to a precocious young girl who has you convinced she's some kind of mafioso? A "date" with a failure of a supervillain whose kidnapping plot you accidentally foil? It's adorable, as is the art style. Especially the "date" that poor Ashley went on. She was so happy to be called cute, she never realized she was in actual danger...
I actually prefer cute and dislike more aggressive themes, so that's a happy mistake for me, but it might turn away people who think it's something they would find uncomfortable. Though, that said, I accidentally started with the second chapter, and took my time exploring; the first chapter seemed somewhat darker, as does the main plot. But even considering that, "Hostage Hotel" seems to put the thematic focus on the wrong place; even if they're in the middle of a massive slave operation, it doesn't really touch on the supernatural elements that have dominated the story thus far, and there's not very much hostage taking going on. It also doesn't really conjure up images of bondage, which seem to be one of the core attractions of the work.
Something more along the lines of "Bound by the Past" might be better (though maybe a bit spoilery, and perhaps a bit pretentious), or "Caught in the Undertow" (though that may be a bit cryptic - and might make people think it's a more nautical work). "Tied up in Lancaster", perhaps? Coming up with titles isn't really my forte, and I recognize that it's a difficult problem, but I really do think the current name doesn't reflect the game thus far.
Novels written about the title aside, though, I really do look forward to the next chapter; bondage isn't really my thing, normally, but the writing has been great so far - Ashley's dialogue really brings a smile to one's face, the self-deprecation being relatable without crossing the line into self-pity.
I don't particularly think sex or nudity is really required, personally, but I don't think optional sex or nudity would really detract from the experience, either... Though just speaking for myself, I'd prefer to see a more elaborate bondage scene rather than it turn into sex. There are dozens of games out there that focus on sex, after all, compared to the more limited range of bondage games - and it would feel a bit odd for things to go beyond just suggestive, while none of the main characters have slept with each other yet, despite the suggestion that they're interested in doing so.
