Hey, on the bright side, I first saw your game here and went for Jonin support. It was a free version though, not pirated one like now.
That's my main issue with the paywalls system. I do believe it gives a bad view to the consumer. Pirates will have bigger effort to crack the game just to piss off the dev, and many buyers don't like to pay to put codes or unlocks on something they already bought. Finally, it discourages potential buyers to try out the game, as you said you tried it when it was free.

The spam all over the thread asking for codes just confirms what I've said above, even if I found it annoying. Not to mention that the effort put on the paywall could be made on the game instead.

Even if this is a piracy website, many around here, me included, try to buy the product if the price is fair. But imo paywalls discourage more potential buyers to get the game than actually "protecting" who bought it. I didn't buy Sonic Mania until fucking Denuvo was removed for example. Same for a lot of piracy on Russia being reduced only because Steam gave easier tools to buy the games, etc. A lot of games also started to get a lot of money here due the popularity gained here, even if this is also a piracy forum.

I won't dive into hatred or movements going against the dev because it has paywalls, as some around here imply to, that's just dumb. The dev himself still seems passionate for his project and still engages with the community around here, I can't complain about that. Still, my opinion about paywalls remains due the reasons above. I encourage the dev to read about the principle of harm reduction.

Anyway, looking forward for next release. If next relases do end up having a tiny bit more of content than this one, along with no paywalls I might consider buying it.

A mod singled out my game amongst a myriad of shittily monetized and permanently paywalled games, and decided that HoS deserved to be the one to get permanently promotion-banned from F95 for having 2% of its current content behind an Early Access model, or temporary paywalls if you wanna go that far.

I am now being blackmailed by the same mod who wants to dictate how I monetize my game. His request boils down to "Remove all early-access content or your game stays banned and you can suck a cock." (He didn't explicitly say the last part!)

My game currently has a tiny amount of content that is temporarily reserved for supporters which is later made available for free to everyone. If you care to read more about how exactly it works, you can read through one of my posts on my game's page. With that, I want to raise the following questions for F95:
  1. Why can a single mod dictate how our games are monetized and If there are rules regarding monetization that allow them to do so, why are they not explicitly stated somewhere. More importantly, why are hundreds of games that engage in FAR more predatory practices, exempt from similar treatment when they are hosted on the same site for multiple years?
  2. Should any moderator of F95 have the ability to dictate promotion-eligibility based on what I can only imagine, is likely a personal vendetta of a power-tripping mod? Can we as developers somehow hold THEM accountable for fair and equal treatment? Or is that something we concede the moment we sign up for F95?

I have read through the rules and have no quarrel with F95 being predominantly a pirate website. My issue lies entirely with the fact that a single mod came up with his own rules and selectively applied them to my game, and my game alone.
-------------------------------------------------------

As of now, the matter is entirely outside of my control.
I respect and admire your decision to have a detailed answer to this and be vocal about it. It really doesn't make sense why its only this game that gets this level of shadow ban treatment. The only reason that comically justifies this, is that THE MOD is one BIG FAN of the game and doesn't want to be stuck waiting cause let me tell you I can totally relate to that feeling because the game is simply the best Naruto game and one of the best games on this platform. I still remember when I first played this game, I was so taken back by the quality that, I was confused as to what the f*ck was happening, it truly was a blessing that day..
Love this game man and I wanna experience what it has to offer to its full extent so I please ask the mods to resolve this issue and Dev keep making the game awesome without letting these setbacks get to you.

I didn't bought the game, I supported dev in order for more content to come out, and in doing so I got 2 weeks early access to the free version(1 week earlier than lower tire of support).

Spot on. This is a case of a paywall inside a paywall plus exclusive scenes locked behind a code, no matter how do you put it, it looks bad from the outside. I appreciate the idea of having everything eventually for free but that doesn't justify this practice.

Can you imagine what the people that pay for the game in the lower tier feel like? They have to wait one more week than those that pay the highest tier. I bet that if the game leaked from the highest tier on day one those that paid in the lower tier would ironically play it early even if they have to pirate it after paying for it. The reason is simple, NO ONE LIKES TO WAIT, especially when it's income related. Are you poor? You have to wait. Are you rich? Well, you have to wait too because there are people actually richer than you that pays more for the highest tier. On top of that, F2Ps not only have to wait for 2 weeks but they are also cucked with some code that prevents seeing extra scenes, which not only are arguably the best scenes but since there aren't many this early in the game they are kinda valuable to see, of course they would get frustrated if they have to wait for months to seeing that and by the time that happens there is already another version of the game with another exclusive code you have to wait for months too. It feels like wearing a chastity belt permanently.

Can anyone relate to this frustration too? It's no wonder how the meme of people asking for a "hero" was born, they really feel like that and on the other hand the dev feels like a villain. People win nothing leaking the game, hell, they risk getting permanently banned if they are found out as recently showcased, and definitely is not for "internet points" or attention. I had some other kind soul DMing me the newest version along the exclusive code even tho I didn't beg and asked for it! The reason is simple: they do it out of pure and genuine kindness, because they know how frustraiting waiting feels like, I bet they can't pay for literally every hentai/porn game out there either so they also depend on other people doing that too and so everyone ends up helping each other overcoming their money limitations... piracy it's honestly beautiful to witness sometimes.

I can understand the other side of the coin too. It would be sad to see this project getting cancelled because of piracy and low income from part of the dev. I am not smart enough to figure out a solution to that, if I was I would have a succesful job good enough to pay for secondary things like this. I am just sharing my point of view as F2P that I bet are the mayority of the playerbase of this. Surely, there must be a better way to monetize a game like this while not looking like a villain edging and pissing off most of the people that play it for free or even those that pay for the lower tier paywall.

It wouldn't hurt to listen to some suggestions like that F95 mod(I am not saying he is right for putting those restrictions in this game thread and kinda "blackmailing" the dev to change the monetization too). Or asking for monetization feedback from the subscribers since they are the most important part of the playerbase that actually funds and keeps the game alive. Ask them what they like and what they don't about the current situation they are paying for.

These are my 2 cents, bests of lucks.

I will be honest: I'd rather pay some sum of money (not a lot, mind you, at this stage of the game, I'd say 5 to 10 dollars tops) for early access to a game than to pay for privileged access to paywalled access.

I've seen way too many promising projects being abandoned (Serial Code is a particularly poignant example) for me to risk paying much more than, say, 60 dollars in the long run just so the original creator disappears and leave me hanging with an unfinished and, worse, unfinishable, game (unless, of course, you open up the tools and models you have used to create the assets).

Point being: Unless you have a really, really long track record for consistent updates and a very well-developed game, people will resent you for paywall. A few examples come to mind that would warrant a fearless subbing: Runey with Harem Hotel, Seeds of Chaos, Eternum… But it takes a long time, and lots of effort and commitment, to reach that level of reputation.

Eternum last update was, what, 8 months ago? And still, people are patiently waiting for it. Same thing with Harem Hotem.

bro, it's the paid version, the free version will be released in a few days

It only goes up to day 7, and don’t stop the thugs from Kumo from taking her to the Daimyo.
Yes but there is no NTR scenes in that segment except some flashing

By buying I meant supporting. It's the same, investing money.

Again, I don't wish any ill hatred towards the dev, neither will engage on a crusader against him as some here are doing. As I said, I'm grateful the dev engages with the community around here, and the game still is good. Simply is a stance of mine. This would happened whether on this game, whether on games with Denuno, etc. I won't ever buy a game from EA again for example. Except on this last game, I actually completly despise and hate EA unlike this dev lmao.

What I'm trying to say to the dev is that, as long the product is good, the money and supporters will come. Many games around here like Ripples, Eternum, Pale Carnations, Being a Dick, etc, continue to receive a lot of money due their quality content, even if it takes months from each update. And none of them has codes or something like that. At the same time, Forbidden Fruit was notorious for being extremely clunky due the effort on their paywalls, even if it had all the tools to be one of the most beloved and liked games around here.

So yeah, while I understand the goal of the codes, at the same time it gives more harm than good due it's cons and sentiment it gives to potential supporters. Sure pirates are pirates, and many people around here just don't give a fuck. But many others around here, me included, like to support a game if the quality is good and the price is fair, not because it has tools to "protect" the game.

What does that “i” in the version name mean?
It's a way for the developer to designate the bug fixes that have been made since version 0.14 was released. Right now, the latest fixed is 0.14j.

v0.14b -Fixed an issue with a choice during Himawari's clothes shop event.
v0.14c - Fixed an issue that could cause Himawari's Panties to dissapear
v0.14d - Mobile UI optimizations
v0.14f - Polish pass (Added sounds, fixed grammar, etc.)
v0.14g - Fixed an issue that could sometimes cause the game to fail to set the Day to 6 the first time you load a save
v0.14h - Fixed an issue that would sometimes not present the player the option to cover Hinata's Debts. Added 'Love' option to Himawari's Clothing store Event (No new content. Repurposed existing choice with different text)
v0.14i - Grammar/typos
v0.14j - Fixed a minor bug that could replay a certain scene.
