How to Build a Magnificent Kingdom was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the gameplay on the Steam page, I didn't know it was the same developer. I will give it a try.

Yup it's their first game, so keep that in mind.
I'm really sad their changed Olly's name, her original name Orgia was far better.
Edit: Olly is a nickname, her name is Olgia... just call her Orgia like she was meant to be.

Okay, here is a couple little starting tips:
Look for weapon drops from battle that have high durability, upgrading it get really expensive so it should take priority. Second is said during Atkasha's and Soufflé's bow/gun tutorial but Stun and Explosive type weapons can not be dodged and the latter ignores defense. Stunned enemies can't dodge either.

I found a small error, Souffle's special Azure Bonds says "procs all specials" what it actually does is summon 3-4 cubes turrets on the wall that fire at nearby enemies. Damage is equal to Souffle's no weapon damage.

I've played the Jap version ages ago. Years before even joining this site. Didn't know a lick of Japanese. Spend too long with hooking it to AGTH (an old text-hooker some guys on Hongfire made). It wouldn't get all the text, since I couldn't find all the correct command lines. 2 weeks of trial and error before even playing the game.
I remember the game being "simple" in the start. What kept me interested is the enormous amount of customization it ends up having and the big tits of the goth lady (witch)... the big titty goth lady helped a lot to motivate me. I vaguely recall the game having difficulty spikes. Definitely worth a try and now you guys even get it in Eng.
