Overview:
Shuuji picked up a strange girl in the mountains near his hometown and ended up taking care of her. Iroha had been ‘spirited away’ more than ten years ago and lacks common sense and the ability to converse. Even though this constantly caused him problems, he was enamoured by her innocence. However, the world is not always a friendly place and her lost time will never be restored. An uncertain future awaits Iroha, but Shuuji is determined to protect her.

I've always wondered about these "Steam Only" patches. Is it to remove the censorship the Steam version has for people who actually purchased the game on there? If so, does that mean the "main" game here isn't censored? Or is it?

Steam version is censored and this restores. Thats why its steam only.

EDIT:
Read the OP. I have all the correct info on what the game has. I just spent the last 3 hours playing it now. So the tags and genre are up to day, as wells as the censorship.

appeal to a younger audience who would probably buy it
so the store can reccomend it to people who are under the age of 18 is most likely the case

Seriously what is Japan's obsession with raising their home grown perfect brides? I get the taboo is tempting and the concept past the lens of morality is even more, considering the fucked up world we live in today but I feel like the genre is beginning to get over saturated with mediocre to cringe inducing entries.
I've noticed this in a number of LNs where the MC gets their hands on a younger individual who they intentionally or unintentionally groom into the ideal partner for themselves. It's well done enough in some, the ones where they don't plan on it but quite cringy in others. There was a LN/Manga with a post apocalyptic setting where an OP MC finds a baby in a pod and raises her, she also happens to be superhuman and the hope of mankind blah blah blah, she totally grows into a kuudere with severe daddy issues and the entire government bends over backwards to accommodate this bs for plot.

I'm hoping this one is somewhat decent, it looks decent enough.

IMO it have a lot to do with their work culture. Why most of Japanese games are located in school? Because it is their last free rein in life. After that you have to fit the mold or you are cast outcast and frown upon. Tthat leads to a lot of people having social anxiety, then japan is also home to Tamagotchi and pokemons so that also play part.

More important is why they call VN that has linear plot, a game? Where is that game part at all? About that you should be frustrated :p

this vn has several female chars but vndb tags it as 'linear plot' but theres no 'unavoidable harem ending' tag or something. so whats this about??

ps - skipped quickly and found a choice. so it has routes and such after all

I guess you mean "Risou no Musume Nara Sekai Saikyou Demo Kawaigatte Kuremasuka / If your ideal daughter is the world strongest, would you still pamper her?"

why is there steam censorship? I thought steam allowed full nudity? (cause the studiofow game is being released on steam so yeah).

The adult patch is probably still getting used so much because it makes the game more visible and available, as they then don't have to age gate the store page. The mosaic is likely because the developer can't, or won't give the English publisher Sekai Project the uncensored images.

There's a book from Japan called the Tale of Genji. Its old as dirt, and the main character raises a girl to be his wife in it. Let's just say that if the idea of wife husbandry hasn't been stamped out by now, its rather unlikely its going to be because of complaints on a porn forum.

The genre might be approaching over saturation but the possibility of a good title is worth the while. Along the lines of teaching feeling which would still be amazing if it was expanded and SFW and less like woody allen (disgustingly blatant grooming).

And more to the point, the notion has likely always been there under the surface but has catalysed from entering the mainstream such as Shades of Grey or Game of Thrones or has opened up due to opportunities for financial gain and prominence (patreon etc and lucrative commissions) that simply didn't exist before.
