First of all, it sounds like a fairly big game. It's very likely that other people are interested in uncensoring it. The very first thing I do is check
You must be registered to see the links
for a thread, and use "search this thread" to see if anyone has already uncensored it, or if someone has submitted their findings in trying to uncensor it. This will save you all the effort.
Anyway, when you have that many assets, you will probably have to scan over each one if you don't see your material shader in resources.asset. It's a pain in the ass, yes. This is one of the reasons UABE is weak, you can't browse an entire folder of assets, just one.
Now consider the type of mosaic you're dealing with, shaders are obvious in 3D rendered games.
But some developers have gone full anti-mod and use prerendered video clips for h-scenes.
If you want to uncensor video clips, good luck. You need a super computer, and a deep learning AI trained for uncensoring.
You can find some experimental uncensored porn if you look for it, but the results are hardly worth the effort. It basically just makes the mosaic filter blurry. We have a long way to go before video can be accurately uncensored.
It's also possible that the developer is using a foreign or silly name for the material file you're looking for.
Some potential curve balls include "pixelate" "mask" "moza" "unlit-mosaic" etc
As far as Studio goes, it's very useful for locating a texture, and reveals the true names of an "unnamed asset" which UABE cannot identify. Studio cannot import changes, and it's limited in usage. When you're browsing the textures, just highlight the one at the top, and use your downarrow key to scroll through. The preview window should help you find it quickly. If you want to use UABE to browse textures, you'll be exporting the entire list and then checking the textures manually. Studio is just a method to speed that process up.
My post on texture uncensoring has been missing for a while. I had a good method, but it only worked on a couple games. Usually it would cause a CTD, or the textures would be botched up somehow.
99% of the time, texture modding is not worth the effort required to correctly uncensor the game anyway. Unless you are an experienced texture artist, your hard work will probably go to waste looking like shit. It's very difficult to match the artwork of the original artist.
