I hate to say this but I hate 3D assets

I dont find them appealing at all.
When I started getting into western porn games I was expecting a lot of 2d games to enjoy but imagine my shock when these stock 3dcg assets are the norm. The fact that people support games with the same assets of other ones is outstanding for me.
I have dowloaded Japanese games with 3-4 GB and those are worth the download but those 3dcg ones? Nope.
Offcuts is the only one I think is good, if devs used more style for their games then 3dcg stuff wouldnt be so jarring.
Offcuts uses 3DCG buddy. You'd be saying the same thing about that, if it was used as often as Daz3D. The problem doesn't lie with the CG, it lies with the artists. Naturally, there are some artist you will like and some you won't, it's subjective. People are gonna support content they think is subjectively good and consume. You don't have too, so no need to be jealous of those that get support.

3D games are very often the "i can't draw and i don't have/don't wanna pay money to hire an artist" solution for wannabe developers.

They can, but rarely they are. If i should make a rank of my favorite porn games the first 3D title would probably be 30th place or under. The few ones that are visually appealing usually have a very crappy gameplay, or boring and very uninteresting stories as pure visual novels.
So you're shaming people for picking up adult game development as a hobby, and then sharing their work? Have you considered that not every game is tailored to you specifically? There is a lot of time and effort that goes into the development of a game, especially ones that stray from the VN template. To disregard that effort as 'wannabe developers' is pretty disrespectful. You obviously don't have a taste for 3DCG art and this is not your thing.

Edit: HopesGaming beat me to it lol

I can only express my point of view. And effort sadly is something that can be wasted.

Nothing wrong with sharing your view.
But there is a difference between saying "I think this is ugly." and saying "This IS ugly."
One is an opinion the other is a statement.

Visually ugly (all anime character look the same with big eyes)
Is really ninteresting that you go into this.
I mean how many 3D games use the same models from "big brother" and "dating my daughter"?

See above. What should i think about a dev that don't even bother to customize the models? At least every 2D dev bother to put some effort into making his/her own characters no matter how shitty can be the final result.

Wait, what?
Did you read the two sentence below?

Now, I myself have many Japanese games as my top games so I know all the things I said are pure bull. But that is exactly the point. People tend to sprew bullshit when there is something they like and stuff they dislike.
I would understand if I wrote like a wall of text. People tend to skip that.
But it's barely a few sentences.
Definition of out of context right here.

The problem is not with 3D asset, the problem lies with the developer always rendering everything. Because some of them ... nah, all of them are lazy bastard. They didn't bother making it efficient at all. 1 render pic might vary between 500kb to 2,5mb. And when the character moving slightly, a new render being made. That's why for many many games, 1 event scene could use about 100~200 pictures and bloat like 600mb size, and they are proud of it ... what a joke.

I'm from 3D animation industry for tv-show, we have to be efficient or we might missing deadline. How to make an episode of 20 minutes show with 25fps only had 2 weeks to render them all. 20min X 60 second x 25fps = 30.000 images must be rendered in 2 weeks. To achieve that, we have multiple model on 1 character. If they far away, we have low res text & polygon model for each. When only showing head or body on conversation, then we have legless model for them. We're separating rendering the shadow and the scene and mix them up later in editing, twice the rendering, but twice more faster than rendering them all in one. Weird, but it's true.

Very contrast with porn game developers, who just put them all high res model, then 1 render might take 5min~4 hours, depend on their machine. They are so barbaric, savages & retard. I know the nature of the W.I.P. between mine & them are different, but they aren't bother to make their pipeline more efficient, especially in the 3D part. Rather than thinking, which part to be cut out from the render, instead they prefer to upgrade their graphic card. This is what I called killing 1 mosquito with a nuke.

So I disagree when you say the problem with 3D asset ... no, the problem with the 3DCG's Developers. They could just make 1 very high res background, and render the character differently. The very same thing like 2DCG games. Only the character have multiple renders, and this will decrease the size significantly.
I agree... partially, but diagree heavily with the rest.
It's true that you see the same models again and again in many games, and that sux and is lazy!
It's true that some developers, maybe many, I don't know, don't know how to optimize their scenes, and/or workflow, heck, some don't even know how to use Daz! but there are others who actually do know and actually do optimize their scenes. For example, there's something called a spot render in Daz, which let's you render just a specific part of a full image, this part can put can easily be put onto an existing render in post, and I know a lot of dev's do use it.
I also know that a lot of devs hide everything that is not visible in the render, so don't think that all dev's are stupid!

If you want to go for quick renders, the method you talk about (rendering the background and put the rest onto it in post) is good and fast, this might be good for a TV series where things are always in moevment, but when you want to present high quality render, this is not the way to go. People see the same image for more than just a frame, there will always be a difference between how a fully rendered scene and a separeted/combined scene looks, and you can't fix everything in post.
There's also a BIG difference between the hardware used in the professional 3D Industry and what we small devs use for our little games here. Give me the same hardware as a professional and I'll give you my next update in a week!

Sorry but this is still dumb to say the least. I've seem the "same characters" over and over again in all kind of different animes, hentais, doujins, comix, japanese games, western games, etc.

Examples: the blonde slutty JK with longe hair, the also blonde and super busty but usually not JK girl with pigtails (most populary know these days as Airi), the girl with short hair and gray/cyan hair color, the loli with brown hair and almost always short hair, the super busty and motherly milf,, the little sister tsundere. etc.

The only difference is that each artist has their own style so you can't draw the exact same character with different styles and it will "look different", add a few visual changes here and their like the clothes and measure and you have a "new character" but in the end you have the exact characters. Most importanly, what changes in those characters are the personalities, the stories, the game itself, and IMO that's what it counts for a game, not only how the characters look.

This is the classic case of "what I like is great but others are just a generic copy-paste" because now you're saying how "DAZ games use the same models" but usually I see DAZ fans saying how "Honey Select games use the same models" and no, it's the exact same thing for DAZ, drawn and Illusion games, but somehow "if the style I like does it then it's ok, but if others does it they are just lazy".

Sorry for late reply but here's the controversial size comparison which I forgot to add in previous post.

2D games:

1. Summertime Saga 19.5 (858 MB)
2. A Town Uncovered 26a (976 MB)
3. Taffy Tales V14 (776 MB)
4. Insexsity (completed) (1.5 GB)
5. Legend of Krystal Rebirth 0.8 (1.9 GB)

3D games:

1. Complex Society 016a (668 MB)
2. My New Family 06 (910 MB)
3. HS Tutor 06 (1.15 GB)
4. Mythic Manor 12 (2.1 GB)
5. Being A DIK 0.4.1 (2.71 GB)
6. Harem Hotel 0.8 (4 GB)
7. Man of the House completed (4.4 GB)
8. Lucky Mark completed (12.54 GB)

Non-pornographic Steam games I currently playing:

1. Nantucket (1.13 GB)
2. Do Not Feed The Monkeys (1 GB)
3. Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark (1 GB)
4. Renowned Explorers: International Society ( 1.1 GB)
5. Rise of Industry (1.8 GB)
6. Rome: Total War (3.8 GB)
7. Battletech (35 GB)
8. Sid Meier's Civilization VI (17 GB)
9. XCOM 2 (77 GB)

Does not include RPGM games such as Roundscape Adorevia, Succulence, Town of Passion, etc. I also didn't include text-based games such TiTs and Lust Doll. While Devilish Business is not a text-based game but nearly all of its sex scenes are presented in text form except for mom's cowgirl and sister's BJ while fingering herself(with some clothing variations).

Like I said before I have no problems with the game's content, only their size. While it is true that I need a bigger HDD if I want to play more games but I think it is better for the developers to resize their assets instead of upgrading their hardware.

Download the compressed version if filesize bothers you so much. Or better yet, don't hoard games if you don't have space for them.

You can drastically reduce the game's download size, by compositing in the game engine.
Render your backgrounds and characters separately.
Layer the characters on the background in-game rather than making tons of images that all have the same background.

I think this only applies when the characters background isn't directly involved with the position or animation of the character itself. Which I think is not very often. Most of the time you have to have the background rendered with the characters for a seamless look when they're sitting on a prop, or interacting.

I wonder how often canvases or scaling is used. Instead of rendering a 1080p image and using that raw image for a graphical scene, render a 720p image or cropped image and scale it using some version of interpolation scaling to upscale to 1080p without loss of quality. It puts more strain on the game, but that's not really a 'problem'.

Post an example, a few frames, where you think the background is directly involved with that character, and I'll give 15 examples of how you can get around your limitation.

I think this is a decent example. The lighting, and setting really compliments the model here. You could probably replicate the lighting and insert her into the scene with cropping but then you're using two images that would cumlatively the same. Then what if you want different angles? That means different backgrounds for every angle. Idk, I'm curious how you approach this.

There is one thing I really hate about 3D assets like Unity, Honey Select, Koikatu, etc. At least one game even use The Sims 4! While they are at least some 3D games I actually like such as Harem Hotel and Mythic Manor(both are using Honey Select assets) and there's a problem, they used up too many space in my hard disk. Each of them about 4 to 5 GB, at least bigger than two third of my Steam games. For comparison the latest build of Summertime Saga not even reach 1 GB yet and it had more content that both games. It's quite unfair that SS was developed much earlier and more importantly not everyone can draw and so they used 3D assets instead.

I wish there are more games that are using 2D hand-drawn assets like Summertime Saga, A Town Uncovered(don't laugh at me for liking this) and Taffy Tales(which had rocky start due to developer's obsession with NTR fetish) but not everyone can draw. I hope there some way to shrink those game down but with current technology, I don't think so. There are good 3D games as well bad 2D ones but right now I have no problem with the content, only their size.

That's not how it works.
Someone prob pointed it out already, but I am too lazy to read all replies;

All the games you have mentioned are as 2D as Summertime saga is.
Excluding some unity games, Ren'Py only supports 2D... The 3D you are talking about are simply rendered images, no real time 3D is ever used.

The only reason Summertime Saga is only 1gb is because it uses overworld sprites (not animated) and lower resolution (1280x1024 afaik). The only thing that prob weights the most are the sex animations of which SS has many.

The average DAZ game has thousands of renders (so thousand of images), for pretty much everything SS handles with overworld sprites, hence why they end up using a couple of gbs despite lower content.

I understand what you are saying, the character interacts with the scene. Render the character "in scene" but separate.
