No need to use Ren'Py for a VN -- just because 90% out there use Ren'Py as well...?! I've seen great VNs using all kind of different engines, and if they're well done, those are great games despite (or because of) the fact they don't use Ren'Py.
Depends what you're doing. If it's just picture slides with some text then renpy is just better.
Not only everyone is more used to it at this point, but it's also more friendly for image compression and mods/cheats.
Unless ofcourse the dev has zero knowledge of Renpy and Unity is something he's more well versed in. Or they want to gain proficiency at it for future, more complicated projects. Otherwise it's just cutting tomatoes with a chainsaw, you could do it, but you probably shouldn't, just use a knife.

I'd rather run that laughing into a chainsaw...
1980s retropixel feeling is certainly appealing. but what we are offered here is just torture for the eyes. The pixel mush certainly looked quite nice before there were no HD screens, but you can't do that to yourself on a current screen. With the graphics from the head picture, the game could be really good. but unplayable as it is if I don't want to ruin my eyes...

yeaaaaa the concepts of the game background and story is great but the point and click is pointless and slow as hell. just make it a dialogue-to-dialogue thing I'd say. cut the pointless goin to and fro out. just getting to the school was enough to make me leave the game. i got into the school and went to go to the mc locker and got caught in the middle of a person standing by the windows and i couldnt get my character to stop. had to load back in. yea i would play this if you scrap the point and click aspect of it cuz i see already this is annoying. has potential everywhere else , im not even tripping on the pixelated stuff just plz end this point and click slow turtle movement .

Great first release

“I Was a Teenage Vampire” is a story focused, point and click adult visual novel homage to retro adventure
Press esc to open the menu and save.
You mean Load, because I've never seen a Save button in the Esc menu before :p

EDIT: Only during Free Roam!

Seems interesting so far, definitely don't mind the pixel art but I do mind the slow walking. I hope we'll have an easier way to travel soon.

Having the game be set in the 80's is cool and all but I'm not sure if having that heavy pixel filter is a good idea... I think it would have been better as an optional feature for those who might like it.

Request tags: Paranormal.

Also Question: Is Transformation... i.e. Turning anyone into a vampire part of the future tags?

Personal Note: I think the pixelation could be dialed back a notch for the effect vs. the affect.

Limit the "retro" pixelated style to the UI, fonts and the tech used by the characters. The fact that you worked on making the renders this way.

What's hidden behind those pixels seems great. Please let us see it. I'll watch this thread, hoping for the best.

The pixel art doesn't look good most of the time and is rough on my eyes. The art doesn't need pixelation as the actual art was not pixelated as it was obviously was at first more clear cause too many details are blured now.

The total lack of any pussy hair just kills the retro vibe for me. They don't need to all be 70's bushes gone wild but bald beavers were almost nonexistent in your chosen era.
That's actually a very good point! The eighties were the time when Brazillians were the kinkiest thing imaginable, while bald was almost considered kiddieporn. Most porn actresses had either a trimmed triangle or a brazillian. On rare occasions you'd see one with her pubes trimmed to the shape of a lightning or an arrow or a big V or something like that. In the late eighties and the early nineties, the labia was generally shaven, while the pubes right above were trimmed. In the second half of the nineties, complete bald started to become popular.
