Kinda dissapointed in their new game.
It seems that AA2 is still a superior game, and it's beyond me, why can't they take AA formula and just expand on it more. Koikatu 1/2 was still lacking.
I like what KISS is doing with their Maid games. They take what was before, and build upon it, making it bigger. I mean, why trying to build a bycicle when you all ready have one?
I'm not able to verify, but I've heard the entire coding team that was behind the systems of the AA series don't work at Illusion anymore. They haven't for years. The coders they do have don't have the same skillsets or experience, either.

If that's true, Koikatsu, Ai Shoujo, and this new game might be Illusion has been slowly breaking in the coders they do have to maybe one day have the ability for an AA3?

I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. I like how Illusion is moving towards a more open-world type of games, but their NPCs only have the illusion of AI and most of their functions are hard scripted ( just look at Koikatsu).

Such a pity that AA2 remains the gold standard for an interactive illusion game, what now almost a decade since the release?

Illusion seems to have gone in an entirely different direction, feels like they are now in the market for making assets like unity or unreal that other people use. Is there a license deal somewhere? Apparently realistic ray-tracing sweat is the new thing they are touting.

Roomgirl looks interesting, for an illusion game.

Looking back at the recent games, this actually is something interesting again.

AIShoujou: Poor mans AG4, with Sexy Beach Premium Resort performance (until mods kinda fixed it, a bit.)
Honey Select 2: Did they really just try to sell a "Free H" for Ai-Girl as HS2?
Koikatsu Sunshine: Its an upgrade and downgrade from Koikatsu, at the same time - wtf illusion?

I would argue, that illusion has two seperate developer teams, especially since they bought that other company I forgot the name of. One of them makes Koikatsu, and sucks at gameplay, and the other made AIS, HS2 and now RG, which sucks at technical stuff, but at least tries to expand the horizon of illusions games. (They really struggled with their transition to Unity.)

So, yeah, I am actually hyped at RoomGirl, especially since the mods from AIS and HS2 (clothing etc.) should work very quickly, allthough there will be some trouble due to them switching that il2... stuff.

This could actually be very popular too, given the popularity of certain sims mods.
And even looking at the preview pages, there already is more gameplay in there than was in HS2 and previous games that were not an "Artificial Girl" of sorts.

I agree with a lot of this. I just really, really hope that this upturn in game design extends into the anime-style games like Koikatsu. Us getting something at least reminiscent of AG4/AA3 in the anime-style.

When Illusion does anime-style nowadays, its like 20GB. Their photo-realistic games? Like fucking 40-60 before mods. Mods for anime-style? Maybe another 30 GB. Mods for photo-realistic? Like another 60-80GB.

My fucking SSDs have trouble holding all the shit I'm archiving as it is. Their photo-realistic games make my storage space weep. They really have no idea how to optimize and compress. I imagine they probably still have the dummy/trash data issue making the overall filesize 4x what it should be from AA2, as well.

I’m too versed in the modding side of things, but this game has some changes that would make the kidders have to relearn a lot of stuff (I’m not sure if it’s file formats or what, screwthisnoise has mentioned the issue, but no details). Many are predicting DOA on the modding side unless the game really takes off.
No idea what STN expects... that Illusion suddenly wont use IL2CPP in future games anymore?
Modders will have to, and will, adapt, otherwise HS2 was the last illusion game with mods.

If they dont adapt to RoomGirl, they will have to for whatever the next game is, its inevitable.

Modders survived the transition from Illusions old engines to Unity, it will be fine, in the long run.
In the early days, there will be a lot of random mods that wont be there, but "the core" that is needed should be adapted quickly, it always was like that.

Most players are fine with Translation and Clothing Mods, everything else takes a long time even with non-IL2CPP games - but is also very niche, stuff that wont affect most players.

Here's the trial, it's just a character maker tho.

Edit: To translate the menus, you must use BepInEx-IL2CPP and AutoTranslator-IL2CPP.
There is also a better repack of the trial by ScrewThisNoise.
Bless you, I was wrecking my brains how to download this, not even VPN helped.

No difference, actually. AA2 and their new games have way more different engines, so their coders could be good on previous engine, but suck on new one... but idk, create bad game code with no new features for so long time - it's strange. Also idk know why they rush between unity and unreal, cuz in both games on those engines they have so much sh** code. They are ,actualy, for are long time, 7 years maybe, trying to sell the same games, but under different titles. HS2, imho, was need to be an dlc for HS (same animations, outfits, VA?, char creation, etc.). It seems, they belive, that it's better to sell the same character generator with some animations is better, then some sort of simulator. I swear: 75% that they new game will be the same HS emulator with heroine gameplay restrictions (no horny *bonk*, no perversions, no exhibitionism, ect.) and just HS animations.

Well most of their games are the same formula. Character creator with bland h scene chooser. HS1-2, Playhome, playclub, realplay, etc. They really need to take a drastic turn, and try to move towards something new and fresh, something that will be fun to play, and have long replay value, like for example AA2 (Still have it). But if they focus on this kind of products so much, then it just seems that their native market demands it. That's a shame to be honest.

I am just glad, that Illusion recycles stuff now, since they spend less time on recreating stuff all the time.

We would not have like 200 H-Poses in roomgirl if it were not for AIS and HS2 being the previous games.
If they now do a "Sexy Beach whatever" next, they can build on what they learned with the previous 4 games.

For example: The UI and Menu of RoomGirl is a lot higher quality than the previous games - so there is a clear benefit of "recycling".

No idea what went wrong with the Team that makes Koikatsu... they definitely didnt get the message.

If they would get their performance issues under control now and then put actual gameplay into things like AIS, it would be fine.

If it's like the Sims, then it's a complete drop. Because sims 3 & 4 have a bunch of porn mods where you can already do almost anything you want. And it's not the kind of game you expect from Illusion. I would like something like Koikatsu (mechanics, freedom, etc) + Honey Select (graphics). AI Shoujo is a bad game compared to Koikatsu, it doesn’t have many mechanics, but it also added parasitic mechanics like surviving in a porn game (lol what, who came up with this is the same dating sim, here you need more mechanics aimed at porn, like in Koikatsu ). KKS is worse than Koikatsu, there are fewer characters in total, their dialogues are cut and so on. In general, it looks like we should not wait for games from Illusion anymore. After AA2 and Koikatsu, nothing worthwhile came out. If AA2 and Koikatsu are able to delay at least a little bit, then there is no desire to play HS2 / Ai Shoujo at all. And to play sims ... Well, I don’t see the point. I'd rather lose Karryn's Prison then. This is not a room girl, but a cuckold simulator where you bring characters together (where you like a girl), they have sex, and you watch. In general, everything written above is my tirade that Illusion will no longer live up to expectations and this is a huge pain.

If sales arent great I would guess they would step back from this type of thing and go back to basics. Fingers crossed...

So the game released. Has anyone played it yet or are we all waiting for the patched and modded version to appear on here?
