No you don't. The game has a quite a few other checks to get on or off the Mother routes before that. It's not up to date by any scratch, but the Walkthrough PDF under Extras covers what you need to do. Giving her the Ring is not needed.

No. The ring just gives you scenes with whoever you give it too. There's no consequences. Besides maybe something related to the King later. But that doesn't even have negative effects.

What do you mean? The entire set up for the Green Path is Elis playing into her manipulation in the first place. Whether you do it to yourself for blindly following her "suggestions" or by being forced into it after she drugs you.

People might not see it that way, but the fact she wants you to sabotage everything just so she can get power largely for herself says it all. Elis has little to no power in the green path. Cass, for all intent and purpose, controls just about everything. It's her men that are doing things in the background. It's her plans being set in motion. Barely any of your own (see the trip to the west). You're just following her lead.

If you don't think that is manipulation. Especially when she forces you if you tell her no in the first place. Then go right a head and do the Green Path.

Yeah, Green Path is very much a femdom Cass path (so far). The moment I noticed the plot being moved forward by her men that I had 0 control over, I immediately chalked off Green Path for after the game is done.

The crazy part about it all is, Elis can do every single thing Cass suggested him to do leading up to it. But as soon as he tells her no for the coup attempt, that's it. All that goes down the drain and she drugs him, if he doesn't kill her. This is while also mocking him for not killing her after she drugs him. And people think Cass wouldn't manipulate Elis? She has no problem separating her feelings from her ambitions, but I can't say the same about some Elis players.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter though. If someone wants to simp for Cass and ignore any and all negative thing she does. They're free to do it. Just don't come yapping to me about why I should do it too. That path will never be something I commit to on a main playthrough. It'll always be some side stuff for additional lore with Isis as my wife as the safety net.

Give this Walkthrough Mod a try from the first page. I never used it myself so I don't know how good the pathing is. But it should help. Either that or URM.

She does many things behind the protagonist's back and hides his plans, but so far, everything is still done in a way that favors the MC and strengthens his power within the empire.

Whether, like Alaina revealed herself, she does this solely to achieve a goal that benefits herself has not yet been revealed. However, so far, despite Cass imposing some things and keeping the MC in the dark at times, she hasn't done anything wrong against the MC or the Empire in general.

Cass makes many plans and executes them behind the scenes, often without the MC's full knowledge. Judging by the comments that followed, many dislike this and feel manipulated. But in any case, I think that's irrelevant to your question about Cass having power...
