True but it was the only thing about the MC that seemingly made him special.I mean that's just because he's royalty. From what she was saying it sounded like the same thing would happen with Elin and Lia.

yea problem with following established characters sometimes is that they are limited by the devs own knowledge and personality. meaning if the dev isn't familiar with how a smart person would act, then protag can come off brain dead. dev doesn't know music, musician protag comes off as tone deaf etc. There should be a third choice in this scene. I don't like the coup nor the "Golden Order" Because if you agree to the coup it's look like Cassandra is "Controlling" you or being influenced by her. Then if you reject the offer you are now following the "Golden Order" which I don't give a shit about it really. If there are a third option which Mc decides to himself instead of following these two paths. It would be like Bing Chilling the fk out your ass out Cassandra wait for me to be a king or Emperor and I will fix these problems in the Empire. The thing is Cassandra is scared of the Mc follows the "Golden Order" and the Mc will be just like the King, in which what happened if you reject her offer respect the "Golden Order" said by the Mc. Like shut the fk up Mc, I'm not following no one.

dev thinks being "strong" is wimping out and sticking to a bad system they KNOW is bad, this happens.
seriously both of those options were ass. where's the third where Cassandra keeps her dignity and we avoid the coup? i.e a solution a smart protaginist with balls would figure out? killing her doesn't count.
my suggestion would be a hail mary by MC where he (depending on standing and character class) can convince her to wait and trust him. king gets poisoned and she's like "holy shit how'd he know?!"I honestly don't really see how ignoring the coup really does anything story wise or is really benificial. It sounds more like you're jut saying you don't care about the coup there for it's bad idea rather than actually listing why it's a bad idea. Like the option to just what for the king to kick the bucket. How many years would that take? How many times is the king going to continuously make decisions they feel is harmful to the empire/kingdom? Is Cass just supposed to accept the fact that her father likely murdered her mother?
can convince her to wait and trust him.
then just do second option?Cass does trust the MC already. That was never a problem. The problem again is the waiting potentially years part why their father makes a bigger and bigger mess of things. What your suggesting just makes more problems.
Which again, does absolutely nothing to solve any of the issues the characters are having. Plus it doesn't make any sense. The fact the father was posioned is the whole reason they are doing the coup in the first place. Like I said it sounds like the issue is jut that you dislike the idea of the coup, and the fact the game focuses the coup to happen.then just do second option?
then we circle around to coup being stupid. why overthrow a dead man? a comatose dead man for that matter.Which again, does absolutely nothing to solve any of the issues the characters are having. So they can put someone in charge who is actually making decisions they like and support like the mc. Again I fail to see how the coup is dumb.then we circle around to coup being stupid. why overthrow a dead man? a comatose dead man for that matter.
MC becomes ruler regardless of coup wtf :''''''')So they can put someone in charge who is actually making decisions they like and support like the mc. Again I fail to see how the coup is dumb.

bro this is not a black or white solution he CAN do that without a stupid coup. he can decide whether or not to execute Cass without opposition to either decision. He doesn't become the unopposed regent without the coup. With the coup either Cass and the MC or the MC alone have pretty much complete control of the kingdom.
there is nothing stopping him from doing that while his father is in no condition to oppose him. again, without coup.Without the coup, MC would have to wait until his Father died of other causes.
The coup ensures that it happens immediately.
There is a vast difference mate.

who says kill him? there's no indication the king will ever wake up in the game. he's treated as already dead and his poisoner like her fate is sealed. there's no undoing that.Killing his Father & siezing his power is still a coup, even if he does it alone.
the urgency you suggested is not true as the king can't make any decisions while comatose and dying. the power the coup promises can still be gained through bloodless politicking. there doesn't even need to be an alternative just a "no that's stupid don't do that" and we're done.Your still not giving any good reasons why the coup is stupid other than you don't like it. With the coup, mc gets full power, without the coup mc still has limited authority. It's pretty simple and it is black and white. You've provided no alternative solution that works.

power in name only. He's still the King.
You cannot take his power, without replacing him.
Replacing him only happens with abdication, death, or conquest.
He cannot abdicate when he's in a coma.
Hence coup d'etat is the only means available.
