Indeed characters as you said have indeed been calling him out on not banging everything in sight even including antagonists lol. On the flipside i think the portrayal aint that hes a beta and more hes fucking loathing being stuck there and is constantly being pushed away from the fuck fest into more of a head fuck fest as constant stress is forced onto the guy with umpteen scenarios hes seemingly getting zero say on the matter on. Arrested for fuck all, having his ex girlfriend dropped on him, the alien overlords basically now commiting him to fuck his own family whether he likes it or not. I agree its perplexing hes not just banged more women in general given its a porn game and first and foremost but from a narrative stand point i can at least sympathise that having being given ZERO agency no matter what he says and does makes him an absolute beta whether he likes it or not. Fucking everything in sight does not constitute him to be a giga alpha chad... it constitutes him doing what all the women around him are telling him to do, he can refuse none of them (his enforced mission is to bang them all, every last one of them) and i suppose in his shoes you would at least try and get to know most of them first. Being pimped on demand out is hardly the most manly of men traits now is it and most of his sex scenes have been of his say so not because hes been ordered to but because he wants to or is willing to.
But that's the problem here. You can't just point to his previous issues with women and his lack of choice as the cause for him to not just get with the program. Especially when you become very aware of the backstories of the women that he meets and what they went through when THEY first arrived. They had no support system and they were in a place chock-full of strangers they'd never met before for no apparent reason. Their bodies were altered without their consent, their libidos were heightened, and they had absolutely no way out of the sexual aquarium that they were put in. All of this compounded to the point that more than a few of them went insane, while others ended up resorting to drastic coping mechanisms in order to remain sane.
If you look at that and then look at what the MC's been through, you can pretty much say that his life isn't really that big of a deal.
But beyond that, the guy hasn't really gone through anything completely traumatizing. If anything, it makes more sense for him to latch on to this new life now that the people that made his life hard are gone as opposed to running away from it. As a matter of fact, he has way more support than any of the women ever had and things are a million times easier for him since his sanity is at much lower risk of waning since he actually has a support system.
Also, fucking everything in sight like a monkey in heat would absolutely make him a giga-chad when coupled with a very clear lack of respect for his partners. Which, as we can both admit, most harem MC's don't since they view their partners as living flesh-lights rather than slutty women that can and will castrate them at a moment's notice. The only thing that matters here is that while this situation has some undesirable elements, the quality of the people around him are markedly better than the people he had in his life before (minus his family).
Most harem games ive played and ive played a few dont just give you the keys to the toy box and say "go play" but instead they build up the majority of conquests over time and several story updates. Unless were talking mind control, corruption etc games. We also seem to pretty muc be guarenteed another sex scene every update so there is no question of being blue balled but more a case of players wanting to fuck em all and fuck em now story be damned - i get the sentiment especially given the premise but he is indeed basically an unhappy isekai protagonist who wants the fuck out and for the best part isnt a complete arsehole (and a genuinely funny one at that) which is also actually against the grain of most harem games ive played.
Okay, that's all well and good for those harem games, but you can't really compare this to those games. Especially when the character is an unwilling participant to the point that even the characters inside of it point this out. Which, under normal circumstances, would be a pretty interesting twist to a harem genre like this. However, this isn't a reverse corruption game that has the women wearing down his willingness to fuck him by taunting him and tempting him at every turn. Instead, this is more or less a man having to constantly prove that he's NOT GAY by fucking a new girl every update after mewling about it first.
And yes, I do understand that he's basically being forced to do all of this, but the guy isn't even trying to find a silver lining in the midst of this situation that's markedly better than his previous life ever could have been. Especially considering that the non-antagonistic women around him have been nothing but supportive of his stance at taking things at his own pace. But at a certain point, the premise of the story begins to fail
My qualms with the game are more with restraint - if there was less characters then unwrapping everyone would be a treat to savour but we seem to get umpteen new additions every update which whilst showing ambition and a long term plan for the game from the dev team means the narrative is losing focus whether it tries to develop more of them or not (as to focus on plot like with Nyx arc means there is dozens of girls who are off screen that people probably wanna fuck since they met them back in the first udpate or so, hell i dont know the name off hand of the majority of this cast lol).
Oh, I totally get you. I think that the developer absolutely shouldn't have added more characters until the MC was fully on board the sex train since that's what will fuel his interactions with them. Instead, we'll just have to deal with the MC acting like a grumpy old man that hates sex because his puritanical bastard of a father beat him to make sure he didn't fuck his wife. Or...anyone else for that matter.
