I mean that's a little harsh calling it that, I guess technically they're indentured servants but it's basically treated like a business relationship between employee and boss....
pfft that's just an euphemism for slavery imo. No choice in the matter = slave, plain and simple. At least today one can chose to not work and simply be homeless if they want, unlike slavery or indentured servants.

In real life? Absolutely, I agree with you 100%.

In fictional media though? There, I'm a little more flexible with the definition, particularly in this context where the "hard" version of slavery can carry implications for publishing viability.

Well. Most people would rather, I think, chose to be an indentured servant to someone else than them living on the streets. It gives them a roof over their heads, food to eat, clothes on their backs, etc. Plus, indentured servants are supposed to be paid a base pay, with whatever they owe to their owner deducted until their debt is paid. Slaves are not allowed most luxuries that an indentured servant has. Slaves barely have a roof over their heads and are lucky to get bread and water to eat.

Isn't the daughter underage? I only played it for a few minutes so far. But I can't remember how old the daughter is supposed to be.
Why does that even matter if the dev is not in one of the psychopath countries like Australia? Plenty of AVNs have underage LI's. Right now I'm catching up on It's Not A World For Alyssa (probably the closest thing to "NTR"/multiple protag AVN I will ever touch). Some characters in that are prob 10-14 (though never specifically stated as such, other than just "not 18 yet" in a few scenes). One before that : Light and Dark, where after the patch is applied the MC is a shota that's not even a teen yet and gets to creampie his auntie and mom. I can think of at least 50 others but too lazy to list them. That "every cartoon is 18" disclaimer crap slapped on just about every AVN there is shouldn't be taken literally; most of the time it's obvious bullshit only there as an anti-censorship tool to keep Patreon and maybe F95 happy (assuming the devs don't mind their AVN being leaked here, some do so won't censor/patch it).

Well. As far as I know, most countries don't do loli stuff. America, Australia, I think the UK as well but not for sure. It is illegal to have child pornography. That is where the term pedophilia comes from. As you say, with a patch, that one game makes the MC under-aged. Many people do not like child p*rn and we stay away from games like that. Thank you for telling me about these two, I now know two not to try out.

Wow I just discovered this game today and I gotta say... its fucking awesome! Great animations and great chemisty with the characters. And I also like that the female characters look actually like real people they dont have perfect everything which is great and a breath of fresh air. Im really looking forward to the next up date and hopefully there will be some swinging in it.

Really liked the one location scope of the game. Not too many of these.
'12 angry men' is a study for everyone who ever want to write/design anything. It is clear indicator that you can make amazing things even if you have just few characters and one room.

I think rather than force opening the website at the end, give the user a choice. For a number of reasons - e.g. don't want it in history - I prefer games not to automatically open websites.
Next update v0.59 does exactly that.

I'm still surprised that Patreon allows slavery/human trafficking in AVNs given the list of shit already banned.
I think the context matters. When people hear slavery in VN, they think chattel slavery and abuse which was the basic version of slavery. If you look into history, you will quickly see that slavery was mostly a status from which you could recover and it was a form of someone paying their debts.

Only in our modern world debts are something that aside from your assets can't do anything to you. In 'In Her Service' world, that change didn't occur when they arrived into modernity. So if you rack up debt and you can't pay, the court can make you a slave to someone you're indebted to. That someone can make you a servant if you don't have much practical skills, give you a job (if you have skills) or, if you refuse to work, he can send you to mines, which is much harder work and part of their prison system. And that work then can be forced upon you.

The reason I went for slaves instead of servants is that I wanted a tight space for characters to interact in and if the main MC duo were servants instead of slaves then at any point either of them could just quit and go away. In which case it would be hard to write why they are staying despite being clearly unhappy. The slavery part fixes that, even if shit falls on their head; they simply can't go.

In my early story sketches, the main MC pair was just a couple interacting with another couple. But as soon as stuff happened that wasn't liked by either of them, suddenly the rationalization to stay together and further interact seemed really stupid. From my experience, this is usually what happens in swinging games that touch character drama. The stuff just becomes illogical and contrived so they have to come up with weird personalities, reason etc.

I think i should tidy the premise a bit. I think too many people read slavery and expect abuse or slavery game.

edit: Modified premise to better capture the game's heart.

please oh almighty developers, is the ntr avoidable? please mention it on the dev notes by adding (avoidable) or (not avoidable). would really like to see the story for the romance with NTR not forced into it.

I don't think that it's avoidable because if you read the overview on the first page the whole story is about romance/swinging/ntr
It is avoidable but that's like going to the rave party and trying to avoid drugs.
Doable but kind of goes against the point of event in the first place.

Did a fresh save to see if that'd fix it and got the same error.
Stupid typo in one of the variables. Thankfully it doesn't concern anything of value so you can simply "ignore" it. It only adds 4 lines of context to the event and doesn't do anything with branching.

Reminder to myself. Before releasing anything double check name of variables.
Unfortunately i didn't predict doing patch to previous version (though i still need to patch current one) so i can't easily patch it as my dev version of game can't be easily brought back to previous version without causing bigger issues.

Unless someone here knows a clean way to do it ?

So for now the fix for it is to wait for current patch to be released to public by the end of this month or "ignore" it when it pops up. Meanwhile it is good thing in the since from now on i will be doing version control of each dev-version patch so in case of fuck up like those i could simply load old dev version and patch it.

Sorry mate and whoever gets this problem.

You can just take the rpy file from the version that's available here and edit it, then upload the rpy file with the instruction for users to put it in their game/events/ folder as a patch.
