Well, then what's the point of her being in the game, except maybe in passing?
I've been in the process of writing a VN personally, wrote about 70k words (not all dialogue, a lot of is direction for renders), not sure if i'll continue as i've hit a narrative wall, but regardless.
For me, I wanted a more realistic VN, so not every girl was into the MC, the same way as happens in real life, his looks, his personality etc. The other characters, were just to flesh the story out, and give a sense of groundedness. One of his best friends is a female work colleague, she's seen him at his worst mentally, and at his best, she offers support and there's good banter, but no actual chemistry. Another is an important characters sister, based off the overarching narrative, there's no way that A) they'd see each other that way, B) her purpose is to serve as an emotional mirror, they deal with similar situations, she challenges him a lot because of her personality and her motives, but again purely platonic. His boss at work, she protects him for minor indescretions, but won't protect him for going too far. The same as a male set of characters, they keep the world grounded. Just because the females have a vagina doesn't mean the MC is entitled to fuck them, because they're their own people with their own motivations
But that's the story i'm personally telling, this one doesn't feel similar to that (only played chapter 1 so far), so i get your grievance, but in general sense a platonic, female character is incredibly useful to have around
