Cool concept. I see potential, but at this point, it feels just like an early alpha where the execution leaves a lot to be desired.

The UI is serviceable, but it has minor and major issues (use <<NoBr>>, I lost count of how many times the empty lines forced me to scroll down and down and down to find the "done/back" button, fix the debugging error handling that mostly ends with the text behind the button), the character info screen is bad (Too many things, poor organization)

Inventory management is awkward and incomplete (Why do I have 20 buttons to use a medi-kit when one suffices? Why can't I move just that item instead of moving them all? How can I carry 50 tons of junk?)

The navigation is rough (no map/mini-map, unclear instructions) Exploration needs to be interesting and worthwhile, right now finding something is an exercise of frustration and repetition.

There are quite a few breaking bugs (unfinished or buggy passages with no "back" button) plus lots of annoying bugs (mostly item-related or due to coding issues like missing closing tags)

The project needs major coding refactoring to make the project viable, otherwise, it will become a humongous pile of spaghetti where finding bugs or places to add/edit something will be increasingly difficult.

Moving the code to JS and accessing the code through macros IS the way to handle a large complex project that is more than picking paths, tracking a few variables, and scoring points.

A lot clearer, and you can easily spot things like calling the same thing CookingMama and CookingOutbreak without the messy and error-prone code (and with a simple block of good old JS that saves the intended output to a string and "wikify" it)

I just dont get two things so far, otherwise the game is great. First is im not sure how far the game goes story wise in the current version and the 2nd is after I hit a certain level everything got bugged, cant store in garage or kitchen etc.

Hello! I'm actually the sole developer of Infested Cataclysm and I was actually a bit surprised to see my game listed here! I was always hoping to post it to f95zone after getting some more bug fixes in and and a bit more polish. But it looks like it's here and I'm happy that people are enjoying my game. I've been working on fixing the capitalization issues after it was brought to my attention and I hope to have some more of the annoying bugs/inventory issues fixed by the 0.1.2 patch :)
Oooo nice, if I may would it be possible to change how searching houses work by having rooms that have been searched get marked in brackets as searched so you don't have to remember that you've done so along with something to say when you've fully searched a house so you aren't leaving nor staying for no reason other than to user the bathroom or farm exp?

Additionally I'm curious about if you plan to add more art or maybe even animations to scenes or just keep them mainly if not completely text based? (It's unclear currently since it's early days)

Solid foundation for a game like this, hoping to see this more fleshed out. Could be really good with more content and polish.

I just wanted to mention that 0.1.2 update has been released to the public and can be downloaded from my Patreon. I redid the Inventory system with a revolutionary new system that allows for items to be stacked! It's going to take the gaming industry by storm! Down below is the change log for the game. I hope everyone enjoys the updates!


Update Notes for 0.1.2


Added: Redid the whole Inventory system so that items can now stack. Hopefully this will cut down on clutter and bugs regarding junk items causing errors.

Added: Added a basic mapping system for the city. This will allow you to see where you are inside the city and where the other zones are in relation to you. The mapping system won't show the map of the inside of a building (for now).

Added: Added the jogger/classmate event. After the Raider boss blocking the exit from the Grove Hills has been defeated a jogger who was an old classmate bully of yours will start to show up around the neighborhood.

Added: Candy the busty receptionist at the Oak Dale Clinic has a new event that allows you to get a bit closer to her. She can be found in the Oak Dale Clinic's break room at noon and will be a lot more willing to chat off the clock.

Added: Doctor FuckHard and Nurse Fucktoy has opened up shop in the Oak Dale Clinic! You will need to make a reservation with Candy in order to visit the good doctor but only if you have enough Friendship with the pair! He supposedly has a experimental treatment regarding Futas for those who might be interested...

Added: Started adding variant sex scenes for those variant Infested such as Infested Nurses vs the usual Infested Female. Still a work in progress with only three finished so far but more are planned for future updates!



Changed: Changed rifles weapons Deadly attribute from 1d4 to 1d6.



Bugs: Fixed the random teleporting bug.

Bugs: Fixed misspelled items.

Bugs: Fixed missing sex scenes for a couple of generic Infested.

Bugs: Fixed water/rain values.

Edit: Here's the link to the 0.1.2 update. I wasn't sure how to get the thread to update to the latest public build but after some searching I believe I have figured it out. Please let me know if I did it incorrectly! ;).

Sweet, thanks for the update, and while I know it probably won't matter too much, I plan to update my review here with my thoughts as the game progresses, so if you want to read at least one other excited fan's ramblings, then you've got me here since going through college cash flow ain't always expendable for a Patreon sub, and I'm the type to forget about that kind of stuff and accidentally get charged cash I can't exactly be spending, so the fact that I can get it free is how it has to be for now.

You should consider putting it on here, dude. Might generate more interest in the project. There is a lot of love put in this project I would hate for it not to get more attention.

Just a heads up, if you pick Programmer as your class, it shows a dead image, as the code/game looks for "Progammer.jpg", rather than Programmer. Easily fixed on the player end by changing the filename, but might want to update for next release?

Edit: The button to confirm it has it spelled "Porgrammer".

Capitalization mis-match between the code and the filesystem names is still present and breaks the game on anything other than Windows.

kitchen.jpg is NOT equal to Kitchen.jpg, even though Windows says it is and shows the image anyway.

Hm. Most of the things that come to mind have already been said. I do appreciate the genre of the game and what it's trying to tackle, and the variety of ways it goes about achieving it, with a lot of different class options. Certainly enjoyed goofing around with it.

While it's clunky and almost slow feeling at times, it's still a pretty fun time. I will agree some of the writing feels a bit off when it comes to intimacy, but one learns by doing.

Not gonna lie, I was almost certain the officer was going to end up the protagonists new girlfriend when you give them directions to the clinic your family headed off to.

Quick nitpicks:
Recipes and crafting are hardly straightforward.
Attempting to 'flurry' attack as a Athlete works, but also has two separate error messages.
It would be nice to have some visual changes to the portrait, especially if you opt for the perma futa experiment.
Related to above, some npc's clearly call you 'boy' and 'man' when you've done the above. Not the end of the world, but if all the other futas are stupidly attractive and feminine looking, the protagonist is probably hitting at least a few branches on the same tree. Kind of sort of anticipating the wonderful disaster it'll be when my hero turned heroine eventually rescues the fam.
Turning 'off' volume still results in Diane's porn gasping and panting at full blast if you go to check on her.

Quick questions: As another asked, can you find the raiders or any of your family yet?
Is there any way to tap into some of that bruiser mojo for +1 fisting? Or gain additional toughness as a Athlete (which is essentially a monk) if unarmored?

After the release of 0.1.1b I was informed of this issue. I tried to get all the file names corrected along with the passages that reference those files but it looks like I missed the prologue + cooking passages for the kitchen. I have updated those passages to use the correct Capitalization of those images. If you noticed any other Capitalization mismatches please let me know since I know how frustrating it can be!

Where is the raiders hideout? or is it not in yet?
The raider's hideout won't be implemented until version 0.2.0 which I've been working on for a bit now. I've been working on Infested Cataclysm (with some breaks and revamps) for over a year and I needed a stopping spot to see if what I had created was any good. Version 0.2.0 will increase the level cap to at least 4th level and add a whole new zone + Infested along with the continuation of the missing family story line.

I actually noticed the flurry bug a few days ago and updated the current build with the fix. But thanks for the heads up!
I do want to have the Futa portraits updated to show it, I just need to spend some time working on that. I'm also working on doing my best to have NPCs react to sex changes so the family's reactions should be hilarious ;)
Fixed the volume on the Diane's porn. I had made the change to the passage but when I updated it to have her react to sex changes I failed to update those parts of the main passage.
At level 4 the Athlete should be getting the Spinning Kick attack (which does extra damage when fighting multiple enemies at once), extra damage on their unarmed attacks and more defense while unarmored.

All these fixes will be/has been pushed into the current 0.1.3 build which will be released to the public here in about 11 days. The 0.1.3 build has a Spring/April event with a thirsty nun obsessed with fertility. She can be found as a home event and will more often show up in the months of April & May (IRL). It also has the first "bad ending" cause it's kind of hard to be adventurer if your character is knocked up! It also comes along with a New Game+ option and a "It was just a dream" option.

How do you unlock crafting recipes? I got the windbreaker recipe in my closet, but I can't seem to craft it, so I just take damage when going outside...

One question I forgot to ask is will there be story or content if you are proactive at combat or trying to keep npc's 'safe'? For example, if you manage to defeat the bruiser to keep the former bully from being lewded they hand you some cash and start jogging again.
The very next day I had the same encounter, and same result/writing. I experimented and clearly there's stuff for losing, staying your hand, or letting karma do it's thing (although one can argue that waiting for karma to drop by allowing mutants fuck somebody senseless is asking to get yourself plowed in due time).

On a different beat, as levels are pretty limited in regards to supply and there are so many tasty options to pick, it may be interesting or useful to have different feats able to be 'learned' in the process of gameplay. This could be in the form of learning from material, or reinforcing gameplay beats. Let's take nurse Troy from the Wandering Clinic: I could see a case that as she's at least partially mutated by the strain, if the PC has begun the habit of 'aiding' her needs, it could develop into a later dialogue where a generous heart like Troy suggests that perhaps the protagonist try and connect with the infected and see if they can come to a conclusion that doesn't involved violence.

So this would earn them the 'talk to them' feat. Connecting somehow with a certain pair of mad doctor and nurse could earn the transformer perk, that sort of thing.
