I thought the same as yourself but I think the more likely case is that you are meant to find all or enough of the events and items to get to the end, thus requiring multiple runs. A thing that makes me believe this is that talking to people you talked to or events you found (that appear in the backlog) don't cost time except for an specific few. Even the man in the smoke room on the 2nd floor tries to take time from you a second time but fails.
TLDR I suspect this is an repeat the cycle/day/period game and find enough info to win.

Yep...I just got the same bug too and so I lost all my backlog progress. I wonder if it's caused in part from having the phone.
PS I took a quick look and it seems like save data is maybe in

AppData\LocalLow\FS\reiwa, EDIT: Yep confirmed it by triggering an event and then seeing that one of the files was modified and when I replaced it with a backup version of the file it reset the event.EDIT 2: I have found that file
cult.es3 if backed up and then replaced with an game restart will reset player position, time, coins and porn photos. I have found that if you don't restart but you replace the file then you'll end up loading into when you last exited to the main menu.

the translation is so unbelievably awful that its hard to say if its google translate or someone who just blindly entered random english words into the text box. This might genuinely the worst translation on the website.
What it the button to "pick something up"/interact? none of the buttons on my keyboard seem to do anything.

Also, it seems after every cutscene I'm stuck on a black screen. Has anyone else had this problem?

Found this guy that confirms it to be a bug from their text, there's also another beside them that comments about your playthrough and what number it is. (They only appear if you have failed at least once)

This is unity, bepin has a plugin which should de-censor the game, unless the censorship is hardcoded, or a part of the models.

I've tried doing so with two different decensors and they don't remove it so I think it is part of the models maybe.

Currently I am stuck I think at the final bit where I can't yet figure out how to get the guard to move from the bottom of the stairs which uh....it clearly requires me to do something as well it's a bit of text preventing me from going down the stairs. I've also only managed to get roughly half the gallery animations since it seems some are maybe time or dialog specific.
As a result here is my save, to use it go to
AppData\LocalLow\FS\reiwa and extract the files to the folder, also make sure you back up your current save as if you have gotten gallery animations I haven't they will most likely be deleted/overwritten. It isn't my fault if you lose your stuff because you didn't back up your save.
PS if you want to "sprint" then hold shift however you must have 0 active guards on the map (they can't catch you via looking at porn mags or don't exist)

If good Dev then likely...bad or inexpeirenced Dev....unlikely I think. Best way to tell is to look at their other games and see if they did good updates if at all.

Maybe I'll have an completed game save (but not 100% gallery) to upload soon.
EDIT: completed game save (again not complete gallery) attached now. Same instructions as before. I think some of the gallery stuff is broken or placeholder though as I did go back and check some rooms next to ones I got unlocked and they wouldn't trigger the unlock stuff.
There is gallery stuff to unlock when you trigger the final scene that allows you to leave where previous places now change slightly....however not all so a bit tricky to spot/find as you have to exit to menu and then go to gallery to see what your maybe missing/if your at the right spot. So I think I've unlocked maybe 75% of the gallery if my guess is true about some gallery spots just being broken/placeholder. (though due to myself running around for a bit prior to getting the ability to unlock gallery I might have missed stuff like apparently the TV Actor)
PS in that dark backwall area there's another hidden (that won't reveal itself) path which your meant to take to get to the final scene to trigger endgame scenes to occur.
