The entire argument is idiotic to begin with. These assholes who sit here bitching about every dev that makes money while they pirate games for free act like it's a terrible thing. Patreons are allowed to determine how much they feel a dev's project is worth and only give that money if they want to, they are never at any point obligated. If they feel it's not worth it, they can easily and instantly pull out. Meanwhile they have continually recieved the product as promised throughout development phase. This whole nonsense about scamming when the vast majority of these projects never or barely earn a profit compared to the amount of work and expenses put in is just that, nonsense. It gets extremely tiresome hearing these idiots constantly bring this up on every single crowd funded project when they clearly have no clue what the hell they're talking about, and no knowledge of the actual work that goes into game development. "Omg it's been 7 months since the last update, what a scam" meanwhile triple a projects with 0 crowd funding and massive development teams with 10 year delays.
When you spend money on a crowd funded project you get exactly what you were promised, and are entitled to absolutely nothing more. You spend exactly how much you deem is worthy and will never get guarantees of anything not a finished product or on time releases. If you can't understand that much and decide to throw money at it anyhow you're just an idiot and shouldn't be managing money at all.
Oh no, a dev is making money from people willing to donate to something they like? He's not allowed to do that, somebody stop him!
