Hello, witches and wizards!
May has been a busy and productive month — we’re nearing the finish line with version 0.12A, while also cooking up some juicy content for 0.12B. In this update, we’re sharing all the latest news: completed tasks, final polish before release, and a little sneak peek at what’s coming next.
Over the past ten days, we’ve been actively working on versions 0.12A and 0.12B. Here’s what we’ve accomplished so far:
Last week, we completed several rounds of testing. These included an internal team playthrough via livestream, as well as open testing with our patrons on Discord. These sessions gave us loads of valuable feedback — from bug reports and typos to general impressions of scenes and events.

We’ve already implemented many of the suggested improvements. Fixes range from gameplay logic adjustments (to ensure events trigger as intended) to visual polish — like cutting down overly long dialogues and adding reactions and animations to make scenes feel more alive and expressive.

As of now, this stage is almost complete: Chapters 2 and 3 of Act II are fully playable from beginning to end for all four prefects.

Here are a few more highlights of what’s been done:

1. We added small animated elements to the “Abandoned Bathroom” location to make it more dynamic. Similar updates are already in the works for other areas and will be included in 0.12B.

2. We created a new internal tool that allows quick browsing of all backgrounds and images per location. This will speed up our testing and help us keep track of which assets are available for each scene. Bonus: it also helps our marketing team with visuals for content posts! >:D

3. The Ravenclaw Dormitory location received a visual overhaul to match our updated art style. The new art for the other dormitories and Classroom 609 is already done, but we’ve decided to hold off on adding them until 0.12B to avoid delaying the 0.12A release.

4. New hand gesture variations were added for Snape and Malfoy to enhance their expressions during dialogue. These are currently used only in the new scenes of 0.12A, but we plan to expand their use to other chapters in the future.

As for the release of version 0.12A, two key tasks remain:

Task one: Adding the final full-screen scene.
This scene is part of the new Act II chapters. The artwork is finished and ready — we now need to integrate it into the code, adjust the logic for the event, and make sure it functions correctly. Since it’s a repeatable scene, we also need to ensure that all variations display properly without bugs.

Task two: Inserting facial expressions and hand gestures for Chapter 3.
We’ve already done this for Chapter 2, and now it’s Chapter 3’s turn. This process is always saved for last, as it involves manually assigning expressions and gestures for every single line of dialogue. This nearly doubles the size of the script, so doing it after the codebase has stabilized helps us avoid conflicts and delays.

These two tasks are now being worked on in parallel, which helps us move faster and avoid overlaps in the code.

Meanwhile, development on version 0.12B is also well underway! Expect plenty of exciting content in this patch — including a sweet Valentine’s Day-themed event with Luna Lovegood. A full-screen scene for this moment is currently in the works, and we think fans of Miss Lovegood will be very pleased. There will also be follow-up scenes with the main prefects, building on the endings of 0.12A, plus several new events featuring both main and side characters.

But first, of course — we need to finish and release 0.12A. And that moment is coming very soon!

That’s all for today, friends! We truly appreciate you staying with us and supporting the development through your donations and feedback. Thank you so much!

We’ll meet again very soon in the next news update. Until then, take care and don’t forget to enjoy life!

Peace to everyone✌

Yours,
Sad Crabs.

And now — a quick poll!
In this update and in Speedpaint #31, we showcased the newly revamped Ravenclaw Dormitory location. This artwork was refreshed by one of our artists during some downtime — without affecting progress on the core content for future patches.

Now we’d love to hear your thoughts:
How do you like the new art? And more broadly — what’s your opinion on gradually updating older locations as development moves forward?
Let us know by voting or dropping a comment below!

1. I like the new look and fully support updating old locations.

2. I’m fine with it, as long as it doesn’t distract from more important tasks.

3. It looks nice, but it’s probably not worth the time.

4. I actually preferred the previous version of the location!

5. Just show me the poll results

So expressive, if a picture is worth a thousand words this must be a whole novel. This game is 10/10 again, every frame of it is like a painting. Bravo Crab.
yea true masterpiece, no game will surpass this ever.

One of the most impressively shit games I've played when the time its been worked on is considered. Its so insanely tedious to do anything.

All the reworks and rather slow development aside, I miss the ability tree and focus on mind control. The mind control perk from before the rework is one of the two reason I picked up this game at all, the second being the game being set in a HP alternative universe.

I've noticed that certain devs and/or writers nowadays want to forcefully implement "redemption" arcs, for characters it either is an ill fit for or whom you don't want to let be redeemed. It's gone from a cool concept with mind control where you're trying to get with as many girls or young looking magical creatures as possible, to some sort of drinking therapy session plot with a painting and Snape, and romcom movies shenanigans and "mysteries" to solve?

So again, all the reworks and slow development aside, what a damn shame and waste of opportunity. And to be fair, VNs like Monster College does that better, but Sisergs and/or their art assistants art is much better for this than 3D renders.

Damn shame.

Hello witches and wizards!

It may seem like summer has just begun, but it’s already brought a ton of progress. In June, we’ve come very close to the release of 0.12A, and now it’s the perfect time to share the current development status and what awaits players in the near future!

Let’s start with the art preview (available in the next post).
In this artwork, you can see how our artists illustrated Cho Chang’s full body (not a final version). A graceful figure, slight uncertainty in her gestures, and an expressive gaze — all of this highlights her character and creates a complete, memorable image.
This is only the first step, but it’s already clear — Cho will definitely get the visual representation she deserves.

And now to the main news!

Over the last development cycle, we made great strides toward the release of version 0.12A — the final stage is just around the corner. One of the two major remaining tasks, namely inserting the full-screen scene, has now been completed.

This scene is part of the main storyline and is intended for replay. It involves several characters, which required implementing separate event logic for each of them. At the time of writing this post, the scene is already fully completed and integrated into the game.
It is part of the key chapter events and will also be available for replay, each run offering small but pleasant visual variations. ;)

Besides this scene, work continues on the second major task — inserting emotions into the third chapter of Act II. While doing this, we’re also slightly trimming and adjusting the dialogue based on feedback gathered from the team during the chapter playthrough stream.

As soon as the emotions are added, we’ll assemble the final test version, which will be very close to the release one, and use it to collect feedback before the official release of version 0.12A.

Meanwhile, our artists have been actively working on various tasks for 0.12B and from the backlog. For example, they’ve drawn a full-body illustration for Cho Chang, updated Nola’s body, added underwear for Hannah Abbott, introduced Hannah’s minion in Headmaster’s office, and so on.

Finally, a specific plan has recently been created for the storyline events of the remaining chapters in Act II. We plan to share it shortly after the release of 0.12A, so stay tuned if you're curious about what happens next in Innocent Witches!

Overall, we’re in the final stretch for 0.12A and hope to release it as soon as possible, so the wait won’t be much longer <3

That’s all for today, folks! We truly appreciate you staying with us and supporting the development through your donations and feedback. Thank you so much!

We’ll meet again very soon in the next news update. Until then, take care and don’t forget to enjoy life!

Peace to everyone✌

And now, a poll!
During one of our recent team calls, we discussed an interesting question about the game’s main character, Marcus Redblack — specifically, his dialogue portrait.

His artwork was created at the very beginning of development, and some of our artists raised the idea of potentially updating it. Your opinion would be very helpful for us here.

Below, you’ll see a draft of the updated portrait for the main character, created by Siserg. This is not a final version, but just one of the proposed options.

Please let us know below whether you like it or prefer the original portrait!
1. I like the proposed version of the main character’s portrait.
2. I prefer the current version that’s already in the game.
3. I don’t really like the proposed version, but you could try updating the current one without major changes.
4. I want to see the poll results.
