Hello, witches and wizards! ✨
September has come to an end, and with it, we’d like to wrap up a month full of hard work and new ideas for Innocent Witches.
The main focus throughout September has been preparing the next major release, version 0.12B, as well as creating content for the New Year event and patch 0.13A. Let’s take a closer look at the current state of these releases and what steps we’re planning next.
Let’s start with 0.12B. Over the past few weeks, we’ve made significant progress toward the release of this patch. At the moment, about 40–45% of the planned content is ready. By “ready,” we mean that the content has been inserted into the game and is in working condition. If we break down the progress by components, the text and visual parts are complete, leaving integration into the game’s code, followed by testing and final polishing.
There was one unplanned piece of content that was inserted as well, which is the advanced version of the main menu background with the charming Susan Bones. This version will be included in 0.12B and will allow additional juicy modifications, which unlock as you play the game with Susan as your waifu, similar to how this happens now with Luna Lovegood and Hermione Granger.
Our current target for releasing this patch remains October, which is why this month we’ll be focusing our efforts extra hard on accelerated content insertion to make sure we’re on schedule.
In addition, we’re planning a seasonal update for the New Year. This patch will include a story centered around searching for and delivering gifts to the lovely inhabitants of Hogwarts, who, of course, won’t leave the Headmaster without their gratitude in return
Among the lucky recipients will be both main and secondary characters, so there should be something to please everyone!
This seasonal patch will serve as a perfect addition between versions 0.12B and 0.13A, giving players fresh content to enjoy between two major releases. As of now, the script and texts for this patch are complete, and the artists are working on the required art. In the near future, the texts will also be sent for editing and proofreading.
Finally, let’s move on to the status of patch 0.13A. Our plan is to begin working on a new update while the previous one is still in progress — and this time we managed to do exactly that.
While content for 0.12B is being inserted and prepared for release, the writers are already working on the storyline and texts for 0.13A. Once the art team finishes their tasks for the New Year event, they’ll be able to switch to 0.13A too and start working on it even before version 0.12B is out. Then, once the insertion of 0.12B is complete, the programmers will begin implementing the content for the New Year patch, and afterwards for 0.13A as well.
This approach allows us to build a more stable release process, so you can enjoy fresh content more regularly and without the long delays that have happened before.
Another point we’d like to share regarding future content is the planned erotic content in future releases. After many heated discussions and debates about how quickly characters should become more horny and move toward bolder interactions — and based on numerous player feedback on the matter — the writing team has decided to speed up this process.
We’ve chosen to introduce intimate scenes sooner than originally planned. Previously, our approach was more conservative: sex was considered the ultimate reward for the long journey the main character takes throughout most of the game.
However, since this journey is already quite long, and the characters seem to be ready to take the next step, we’ve decided to move forward faster in this direction and finally add more intimate interactions with the main characters. In the updated concept, sex will no longer be seen as the final reward but rather as a natural stage of the relationship, opening the door to even bolder and more interesting events that will take place in the second half of the story.
In practice, this means that already in Act II — closer to its conclusion — at least two main heroines will receive full sex scenes. For context: Act II is planned to have six chapters, three of which are already implemented in version 0.12A. This new approach will allow us to add many more engaging interactions and events to the game that we couldn’t include earlier due to contradictions with the main storyline.
Oh, and one more thing before we finish — more good news! Our programmers have been actively experimenting with the browser version of the game, and very soon it will support Live2D animations, which previously weren’t available there.
Of course, the standalone build of the game will still be the better choice: the browser version uses compressed image format (webp instead of png) to improve performance and reduce download times, which means the visuals differ slightly from the originals. However, in all other aspects the browser version will be identical to the standalone builds. And by the way, saves are compatible between the browser and standalone versions, so you’re able to switch between them freely whenever you like
