I have a hard time believing that saves are caused by a malfunction. After so many versions and chapters and stuff, that malfunction should've been in the past. Instead, this malfunction lingers. If it were a malfunction at the beginning, I feel the devs, competent or not, treat this as a feature.
Seems that I misunderstood the original point. Malfunction might be the reason behind current-build whatever save problems, but if we're talking about the whole development history - the reason lies in constant core game changing. Variables, structure itself, new features which are suddenly did require tons of rewriting etc. Summertime Saga suffers from a very similiar pattern - devs've made many save-breaking changes along the way. The game became better but there was also a lot of bitching and moaning about that.
It's a shame really! This is one of the few games currently developed that actually has great potential. I just wish I would live long enough to see it completed and bug free.
I think it's far too late talking about "potential" here. Especially not with this level of writing. Personally, I wish they've done with this project already and moved on.

Can you make chapters smaller (for checkpoint purposes)...
It's boring to replay chapter 5 from the beginning again...

Why the fuck quote me for? Go see OP, ffs. Or search the pornhub for INNOCENT WITCHES.
You're asking too much, thinking for themselves, taking initiative or doing anything requiring more brainpower than assembling two Lego bricks together (just two, no more) is likely beyond their capacity.

So, apart from being obviously inspired by Akabur's Witch Trainer, the fact that unlike most copycats this one at least uses original art left me hopeful for a quality game. Judging by the comments and star rating I'm guessing I might be disappointed? Is the game bad, mediocre or just okay?

The low star raiting is based on the fact that the game looks like a regular VN while it's not. It's more like point&click adventure of old times, just with gazillion words on top of that. So, when people (especially not experienced in games generally ones) are trying to get through all of it in order to see some action, they are get stuck a lot and get frustrated as fuck. At the same time, there're really not much of adult content. In fact, correlation tedious stuff/grind/questing to fun/adult stuff is ridiculous. Thus as an entertaiment product for average user it's next to worthless. But if you can appreciate a longread fanfic and not afraid of some point&click stuff it can be even recommended to play.

I think joe looks good He often reads comments and answers in comments. Although his game will develop very slowly But we still love his game. I don't know why the game developed so slowly. Or maybe because the painting labor cost is very expensive? Because I noticed that it looks like he is trying to include a lot of dialogue and game content As opposed to sex pictures in the game :)

I believe what JackofShadows is saying, here, is "This is a good game, but it makes for lousy fap material."

I guess you can interpret it like that, I was just trying to elaborate gameplay further because it can be seen very differently by different people.

Is the artist not being paid enough for him to dedicate enough time to this project to not deliver the bare minimum? Even 1 scene a month is borderline scammy for 12k a month, much less whatever "every A, B release" means. Like is all the time going towards BG's or something, and if so why not hire another artist to work on that? On one hand you have a overzealous writer, and on the other hand an artist that is slow. What a combo, I feel bad for Joe.
Real job and time sink, we have more artists now, we are training them up on style. It takes time to get everyone on the same level. Also, we hired an animator. So it's not like we aren't spending the money.

But there was a process, find people, they submit test art etc etc... it's not just, "Ah saw your art, come work for us"

Thanks a ton, is the wardrobe data also part of persistent? Any chances of an upload with all that unlocked?
I didn't really play the game so I don't know anything about wardrobe and stuff. I don't plan on doing anything else with it.
