I agree with this theory. Based on that and some of Lexi's thoughts it seems like she may have had a crush on the MC she never got to act on. If she has 5 years of guilt towards an unrequited crush and happens to sit next to him on an airplane it would go a long ways towards making her behavior "less trashy".

Your last point is actually a positive to me. I'm more inclined to enjoy a game if it feels more real. It's well written, immersive, or believable. A woman taking the initiative and going after what she wants, the MC, does that. The vast majority of games out there have a bunch of passive love interests that are there if you decide to pursue them. Otherwise, you never hear from them, or see them. This game is believable and the writing in particular makes it so. I'm on the Alexis train, she's by far my favorite girl, but I will say I was very happy with Nikki.

I like when characters behave in a somewhat realistic manner (given the limits of the genre). It’s what makes a game more enjoyable for me. Sure, I enjoy a mindless fuck fest every now and then but the games I support the most, and am on Patreon supporting, are ones that focus on story first.
