Finally trying to catch up, I'm on Nikki solo path and I'm just past the Erynn photoshoot and the game automatically puts me on Erynn's path? Wtf did I do wrong here?

like in what way cause you are always gonna be on some version of Erynn's path like with helping her with Ethan and stuff unless you ignore her when she needs help from Ethan. But I think taking part in the photoshoot also puts you on her path officially if you were just being friends beforehand

If you have enough points with Erynn and do the photoshoot with her the game assumes that you want to be on her path. I've had this happen before. I usually avoid doing the photoshoot if I'm doing a different path or just want to be friends.

the game doesn't do a very good job at explaining it, the points essentially work as a mutual interest meter. If you gain enough points with Layla for example, her and the MC are interested in each other, if you don't they just see each other as friends.

There's no set choices to jump on someone's path, it's all through the point system, and there's not a lot of opportunities to jump off paths, unless you're fooling around with multiple girls. Erynn has three that I'm aware of
- don't intervene with Ethan in the Alley, which leads to her hating you
- don't help her with the situation at her apartment
- don't do the photoshoot

Lexi has one which is after Erynn confronts her, I believe Layla's is don't kiss her after you find out who her mum is. The Riverside girls are when they arrive at your house. Not certain about anyone else

Personally, I think Nyx was leaning into the 'childhood bully' there with Ethan being the antagonist.
As someone who was bullied when he was younger (god I wish someone would try now as things have changed) it definitely leaves an impression throughout the years.
I'm not sure I agree with 'cartoonish' though I definitely see what you mean.
Rather, as it was revealed his last name is Bloomberg, I'm taking it all to mean he comes from family/privilege/money and has people who are hanger-ons/bootlickers who will do whatever he tells them, to further their own goals and it in turn, props Ethan up.
Ethan is an A%%hole, hands down. And they usually are not smart, but definitely used to getting their way. That's part of what I think will lead to his downfall.

Remind me; Zane is the surfer dude always at the beach who was supposed to do the photoshoot with Erynn, right?
I think if anything, hes more of 'another' choice for the ladies affections/interest.

Personally, I think its late in the game to add that kind of layering, but as I have said before, this is Nyx story to tell. I'm just trying to enjoy the ride for as long as I can!

And I definitely agree, Ethan really only affects those on the Erynn path, so in that regard, I'm ok with less of him as I am not a big Erynn fan. She just seems way too needy for making poor life choices all around and is holding the MC up as her white knight to save her from bad choices.

He's definitely rich, he's the son of the owner, he is always at clubs and with women he pays to be around him and he sends Erynn and other girls on jobs with rich powerful men... His name wasn't even needed to figure that out.

Ok, now we established that he's a rich asshole... Rich or not he is still not interesting or a good villain, i don't even know what kind of argument you made about him being worth keeping? Because you like to see stupid bullies go down? You are still getting that, just faster.

Zane is the surfer dude, brother of Brooke the clerk, works as a model, ex-bf of Erynn(the guy on the tape) and teacher at the school(and all the girls have the hots for him).
As you can tell, his pre-introduction work is already made, by Nyx own choices she made him a kind of important character despite having minimal screen time, why let it go to waste?
He doesn't need to be a cackling mustache twirling villain that only exists to screw us over...
But instead someone that due to circumstances competes for the affections of the same girls you want... a rival instead of a villain.
He doesn't even need to be a bad guy, just unfortunately in the way.
I'll take that over a one note villain 10 times out of 10.

Like i said before, relationship stuff is Nyx strong suit(imo), girls jealous of other girls, that's the special sauce... Police stuff maybe not so much, so the message of that particular plot line kinda got lost in the boredom if i'm honest.

I like Erynn, i think she's a sweet girl that has been through a lot, stuck in a bad situation which she was scared to tell others, and didn't know how to get out.
Good characters can have flaws(need flaws) and things to overcome, just making them cool and confident from day 1 is easy.
Cool and confident also wouldn't work for a character in the place Nyx put Erynn, it wouldn't make sense this girl who is suffering being super brash and confident with everything else.

Greatly disagree on "bad choices" though, what bad choice she made? Have a bf?
She was taped against her will and blackmailed into doing things against her will, those weren't by choice.

14.1 patch is out on Patreon which fixes a few bugs in the original version. This is likely one of them.

wasn't a fan of the overly detailed scene with Melissa (Edit: even though it was very well done), so i hope that was a 'test' that won't be repeated..
otherwise a good update as always! really like this game

Edit2: Oh, and does anyone know why dome animations are grainy, and others are higher quality than even the still renders?

Yeah, those were AI generated descriptions, pretty easy to recognize since they basically are the same dish over and over regardless of the scene or the context, with just a different side salad.

I hope too it was just an experiment, I'm worried because I noticed AI generated text popping up in several VNs now.

I mean this is one of my favorite games so don't take me for shitting on it but sometime just being nice gets you locked into paths and then you have to redo a playthrough to figure out what you did wrong (or too right I guess) Unless you're playing with mods of course. I was just trying to be nice/supportive to some characters but apparently you can't do that unless you're trying to bang.

I wish the term "Intertwined" wasn't taken so literally by the dev. The story established early on that pretty much everyone knows everyone, so even though I hadn't touched this in quite a while, I was disappointed to find out that not much has changed and the big reveal in this chapter didn't really do much for me.

And I shrugged, because these twists have no impact anymore. They just feel too contrived...which is a shame, because the characters are mostly likeable.

I was just trying to be nice/supportive to some characters but apparently you can't do that unless you're trying to bang.

sadly that isn't just this game I have had the same issue in other games as well tho I find it not that difficult in this one personally but I played the game more than once so im pretty good at navigating the paths but if you haven't yeah I can see that

Yes, I understand exactly what you're saying... However, Gabi didn't see if there was a punch or not, and still told Adriana that MC hit Zach... This is not professional behavior from a teacher... There were several students in the hallway, she could have questioned them about the incident beforehand... And it's especially shocking if in any of the routes Gabi has a secret sexual relationship with MC. Because WTF why??? And that's why I mentioned the Layla/Gabi route, because that's the only way I would see a little logic...

Nyx clearly wanted the MC suspended no matter what, Gabi was simply the tool used to get there.

Gabi's actions are professional no matter what kind of relationship you may or may not have with her, no intentional harming of the MC because she's jealous(she's only jealous if you have Layla+Gabi which i highly recommend ).
But even with this combo her attitude is simply professional.
