There should be no way that Ethan is even able to beat them to her with that information. If they're all sitting around figuring out how to tell her, it's understandable why she'd be pissed

In more neutral circumstances, yes.
But Ethan has already convinced her, to isolate her, that Lexi slept with him... even though she's her BFF and the mere idea of Ethan breathing disgusts her.
I'm not sure MilesEdgeworth idea will quite play out this way.
Both John and MC can easily adapt to things now and just say "Yes, he is telling the truth... no, i wasn't hiding it... let's go talk to Melissa she can explain everything".
The only thing worrying me is Nyx penchant for making the MC the dumbest motherfucker that ever lived and having him fumble this conversation.
He already fumbled that conversation, when he did not mention to Melissa that Erynn knows John. And met him already once or twice, even thinks positively about him:
'Here is my phone, call her before i or my equally dumb mother screw this up for you and Erynn by running our mouth, once more, before thinking...'
