Well, maybe you could just not make it something about you/the MC. If you think you not getting to stick the dick in for a few weeks is punishment more severe and worthy of note than years-long trauma and abuse (or, as you kindly put it, "baggage") then can always simply not get involved with someone you lack empathy for.

I would agree with you up until a certain point in her path. There was a certain point about her path where for me it stopped feeling like a LI just for a sex to me but there was more to her than you initially think cause she has a very bad first impressions.
