The introduction of Iris was the point where this game jumped the shark. She's a completely redundant character who doesn't add anything of value to the story. You want an old girlfriend to show up to cause drama? There's Mira, Nikki/Cara, and Lakeyn all ready to go.

So little effort went into her character that the dev couldn't even be bothered to figure out that eighteen minus two wasn't still eighteen, and needed to rewrite the game to officially make the MC even dumber by holding him back in school. Iris is a net negative on the game. Even her father is useless.

There's a moment where they can go to John for help with their ridiculous plan to stop Ethan, and he tells them it's a bad idea, which was great because it showed an adult acting like an actual responsible adult. But then he goes ahead with their idiotic plan anyways, where he pretends to be someone else even though he's covered in easily identified tattoos. His entire role in the story is as unnecessary and unwanted as his sex pest daughter.

The game rightfully vilifies Zach for creeping on the girls in the shower, but Iris does something even worse by spying on Alexis and the MC, and the game just laughs it off. Like... there's a whole plot with Erynn about how awful it is to have other people see you being intimate with someone, and then we're all supposed to pretend that it's totally fine when Iris does it because she's got blonde hair and tits.

Men and women getting their actions judged differently due to their gender isn't exactly unusual, more of a truth in television. Just consider the oh-so-common in porn games "it's not cheating if it's sex with another girl". Or how a common reaction to news a female teacher fucked underage student is "oh, lucky him" than moral outrage.

But specifically, I don't think that coming back to your apartment and finding your roommate having sex in the bed next to yours is the same as stalking two people and filming them having sex in an apartment where you have no connection whatsoever.

While this is true, the original comparison was about Zach/MC spying on girls in the shower, not what Ethan did. I feel like choosing to spy in the shower and choosing to spy on your roommate having sex, when it both cases the proper choice is to turn and walk away, is quite close in terms of how questionable and creepy these behaviors are. But only one of them ends up with the perp(s) being ostracized.

The moral of this story is that creepy behavior is far easier to get away with if people you spy on are in the middle of having their brains fucked out, than merely naked. And if you're pretty, ofc.

To be fair, he does get called out for it in the game itself, and people who learn about it (in the game) are probably only having more restrained reactions because Iris herself largely let that slide.

Progress Update - Episode 15

Quick update:
The big scene is finally done. Actually, a week and something ago. So happy that is over. I was getting frustrated myself, working so long on one scene.
Started working on the Valeria date. Which will be much smaller than the previous scene. I'm actually already halfway done with it. I shortened it a bit more due to some assets not doing what I want them to do, and it's a pain to work with.
But here's the first issue I came across. I thought this scene would be straightforward, the same for every route (if you are on a Valeria route that is). That's not the case. I forgot about a certain route where Valeria doesn't have the information she has on other routes. And that changes a lot, and I had/have to adjust some things. Now I have to write something new and different for that particular route. Oh well. If that will be the biggest issue on this update, I can deal with it. I'll also try to finish the whole scene before I head on vacation between X-mas and New Years.
Working on the rerendering of episode 4 is on hold for a few weeks since I'm completely swamped at work and have to do a lot of extra hours.

My roommate forgot to put the smiley face on the dry erase board on our dorm room door once, so I walked in on him and his girlfriend. Then turned around and walked the fuck back out. Sitting down on your bed and watching them might not be as weird as what Ethan or Zach did, but it's still pretty damn weird.
