Not in every case, no.So if a kid start acting up the solution is send them away?!... Yeah, that makes all sense, you'd be the parent of the year!
However it's not far fetched at all, in regards to Emily being a single parent.
Sometimes when a son or daughter become unreasonably rebellious(as MC was in this story).
A parent may choose a time-Out is needed for them to go live with the other parent.
Seen this happen before first hand with a band-mate and his son.
After a year living with his mother, he came back a different person all together.
Things were not as Lax with moms at all from what i heard but, cannot expect it to work with everyone.
