I've played the other routes, too, even the as many girls as possible scumbag options...
The others have their charm, just not as 'feel good' as Layla or Laylena...

Just when playing Layla's routes, Iris is the one that hurts, causes conflicting emotions, because of timing and how it happens.
The others aren't nearly as difficult to justify passing up or moving on from for Layla.
Thank goodness IRL isn't this damn complicated...

Ideally, Layla, Elena, Valeria seems like it could work out; pretty sure it's not going to happen, but maybe it will, who knows...
Still, leaves poor Iris, who's clearly in love with the MC, and now has to find out about how Erynn ain't gonna happen...

I love Layla also, she's a real sweetheart. Her path is one of the most pure and wholesome in the game if you focus solely on her. Then there's adding Elena to the mix, but there's a few scenes that makes it seem like the MC is favouring Elena which I'm not a fan of. Such as the MC covering Layla with his hand in a picture of the three of them, to show just him and Elena.
The Layla/Gabi run is pretty fun also, seeing the MC with Layla drives Gabi wild with jealousy. Gabi's path is kinda boring so far without adding Layla to it IMO.

You can hook up with Iris no matter who you are with in the last episode, except Alexis. Iris doesn't want to go further than kissing if you're with Alexis, though she is still tempted. Hooking up with her at the garage is pretty cruel though if you're not interested in her romantically IMO, as it's more than just casual sex to Iris. She still loves him.

As much as I think Iris will be a little disappointed about her and Erynn being sisters, she will get over it pretty quickly IMO. The MC however, is going to be harder for her to get over. Especially if the player fucked her in the last episode.

Kind of funny I agree with your take on Layla yet I have a hard time enjoying her path and she ends up being my least favorite other than Mel , despite her being a really good character.

Layla is one I have a difficult time not self inserting on, because she reminds me of a very special girl from my past...
And the combination of Layla and Iris in this VN is way too similar to my IRL events...
Just be nice in this fantasy VN if it could work out to have both instead of having to choose...

Thats because of everyone being thrown back onto Iris Path if you said you liked her hair due to variable changes needed, I'd see what happens after new episode with re-dcode this scene might not even show

The flipside of the Elena situation is: is it in Elena's character to brazenly flirt back with a guy she knows her best friend is really into? I would argue no, but Nyx still had her do it. Consider that Val refuses to consider MC in that way if you're on the Layla path, that's how Elena should have been. So that lines up with your assessment of the Mel situation, but Nyx saw it a different way.

I wouldn't say Elena was brazenly flirting, if anything her connection to the MC happened against her better judgement.
She hasn't done anything and despite this, she is still uncomfortable with the situation, unwilling to screw over her friend.

Yes, on one side we have the actions of the MC, being attracted to 2 girls, girls who are sometimes close to each other... right up his wheelhouse.

On the other hand we have how these girls react to his approach, Elena stops herself because of Layla, Val stops herself for Layla, Iris stops herself for Alexis, Erynn stops herself for Alexis...
