Of course, Emily is beautiful, but I agree with the decision not to include her as a love interest, makes for a more realistic setting.

And anyway, there is already a form of incest, or step-incest, first with Cara or Nikki (although technically the parents never go through with their wedding), and then with Gabi (who’s only married to a biological father that you don’t really know).

In both cases, it’s not incest, as defined by blood relations, but it’s kind of incest at least in its psychological impact, it makes for some interesting soul-searching and drama, and I think that’s some great plot devices, worthy of the best TV soaps

And there are no great TV soaps, when you compare them to, I don't know, masterpieces of world cinema.

But TV soaps live and breathe with plot twists, constantly, and their effect on human emotions.

I see this game as a sort of TV soap adapted to a VN setting, myself. It's one reveal after another, plot twists and drama, it's part of its charm
