Im fairly certain his age is 21 to explain his reltionship with Iris. Otherwise, that line wouldnt have even been necessary.
one has nothing to do with the other, the rest of his classmates are around 18. Fucking retcons don't make no sense anyway.

Are you talking about the MC? He's not 21 but 19 or so, like the rest of high school students. Erynn is 21-22 and the MC is repeatedly said to be 3 years younger than her.

And yes, Iris is older than him, around Alexis's age. For some reason apparently there's no college students in the city the game takes place that are capable of attracting interest of college girls, so they're all lusting hopelessly after a teenage dick, smh.

or in Europe where in many places is between 16-18 years old
I was under the impression that there was enough of a difference in schooling culturally between Europe and NA that a game written to be in the US would be noticeably different to what Europeans expect school is like

You're right they don't. But it has alot to do with Nyx making sure that the people that pay her know the MC wasn't underage when he was fucking Iris. Probably was a better way to do that.

If he was 19, the clunky scene with erryn verifying his age wouldnt have been necessary. Especially since he turned down the drink anyway.

Yup, there is. The biggest one is probably more rigid lesson system, where the students don't just pick what classes they want to have as they please, but there's either a mandatory set of classes (in lower grades) or a few sets each with specific focus (e.g. science, languages, arts etc) a student can pick one from, typically in higher grades. As such, most students interact with the same group of people who attend the same class, than with different group from class to class.

Things like school-based sport teams or cheerleading are also very much US-specific.

TBH i don't even know what scene you are talking about, i don't remember anything like that. When does that happen, and are you sure Erynn isn't simply making fun of the MC because she knows he isn't legally allowed to drink?

Probably much like the tranny scene, it was likely put in there during one of her revamps.
Doesnt sound like she was teasing him.

To me it reads very much like she's just teasing him, and the MC saying he's "old enough" doesn't need to mean that he's literally legally allowed to drink. "I'm old enough" is the bullshit kids will try to sell you when they aren't in fact old enough.

If MC actually was a 21 year old still attending high school that would be significant enough to make it a point right at the start where he gives the player a recap of his backstory. "I got held back 2+ years and still have to attend high school" isn't something you just gloss over and tuck into a random scene that people who opt to ditch Erynn won't even see. So, no, pretty sure he's just 18-19 like the rest of his high school peers, and this is just a bit of messing around.

which is why I was saying setting it in Canada solves the problem, the high school experience is not much different and you can buy alcohol at 18 in some provinces.

I mean, it's not a problem that needs addressing or even a mention to begin with, unless the game for some reason wants to make an issue out of the fact MC can't personally buy alcohol and getting drunk or even drinking is somehow necessary part of the scene.

Id argue that if it was just teasing, it wouldnt have been put in there later. Why insert an age specific scene when revamping the game unless you're answering a question?
As for being 21 and attending high school, probably wouldve been a better place to insert it, but its not something that the writer absolutely needed to bring attention to through narration.
