I imagine some devs would prefer to "clean up" their game before Patreon gets wind of questionable content and bans them, than gamble and wait for that and then try to dig themselves out of the hole.

Nyx was in contact with Patreon about 3 or 4 times. She changed some things because of the whinings of some idiots, mostly on Reddit. She was just annoyed to discuss the age debate for the 1312th time. Patreon has nothing to do with any changings. If I remember correct she made a statement about it before Ep13.
Admittedly, arguing with some idiots can be quite tiring, which is why Nyx decided to make these changes.
