Yeah the part that it makes Erynn remember that claim from Ethan makes sense, that is not the point and that it might make her more likely to believe what Ethan said then as well at that moment in her anger.

The thing is though that Alexis sleeping with Ethan at that time according to Ethan, should have never been a point in the first place unless Erryn had a claim to Ethan when that was supposed to happen in the first place. Also her connecting it to stealing MC away from her, indicates even stronger how she would have considered Alexis sleeping with Ethan then. Namely Alexis sleeping with what was hers at that time. (Edit; Just as that even though Alexis slept with MC, that should have not been a thing that should have bothered Erryn in the first place or Alexis if we did not know there had been conversations between Alexis and Erryn that make Erryn lash out and Alexis feel guilty about that fact, though even there it is mainly speculation since we do not know the exact nature of that claim Erryn made about her feelings concerning MC to Alexis .)

The remark says something about Alexis possibly and something bad she might have done earlier, it also says something more even about Erryn though and how she saw the relation with Ethan at the time this was supposed to have happened. Even if I would also prefer if Erryn had never cared about Ethan, that is not what I (read clearly I, Nyx may fully disagree or have meant it different as I see it) take away from all the hints and history shown.

My take is way more that Erryn was interested, Ethan blew it due to being a supreme asshole (likely at least twice) and now as the asshole he is will do whatever is needed to still posses her whether Erryn still wants that or not and most indications is that now she does not, which landed Erryn in the mess she is in now. Not really helped by some of her own choices.

One thing I find confusing about Ethan saying he had slept with Alexis

Unless she thought it was the truth, why would it damage her friendship with Alexis (and if she thought he was lying, it should have ended her friendship with Ethan). For at least a short period of time, she either beloved it was true or thought that it was a possibility. She seems to have a habit of just accepting whatever Ethan tells her.

We do not know exactly when in the timeline this happened, but I suspect it was shortly after the blackmail started. In that case Erynn may have been thinking 'How could you sleep with the asshole that is blackmailing me'. (I doubt Alexis actually knew about the blackmail, but she does know he had been destroying her friendships). It doesn't help that even though they are supposed to be BFF, it seems that Alexis actually has no clue what is going on between Ethan and Erynn.

MC leaves -> Ethan pretends to be nice, doesn't work -> Ethan resumes assholery -> Ethan tries to break up Erynn and Alexis -> Erynn ends friendship with Ethan -> some length of time passes (at least a few months, possibly a year or more?)-> Erynn starts dating Zane -> Ethan Blackmails Erynn.

Here's a thing, if the sextape is real, it actually exists, Ethan telling the truth about Alexis would be an interesting twist.

Also to shoot down the Erynn>Ethan, this is Erynn's response to "you know what i want" (they are suppousedly talking in private, neither person knows the MC is around the corner).

But now, when I gave it some thought, Maya from BaDIK's appearance is totally from Borderlands character. Not only the same look but the same name as well.

Incomplete and in no particular order:

Gabi- probably feels trapped in her marriage and maybe regretting other life choices. She has just had a drunken one night stand with a student. Excellent seeds for real life drama.

Main Character- all kinds of believable familial and interpersonal drama.

Layla- teen bullying issues compounded by existence of principal parent and a crush on the new guy. More realistic drama.

Elena- we’ll call it a busy home life. Super dramatic.

Alexis- feels like she betrayed a friend for love but happy anyway. Very bittersweet and very real drama.

ex/future/possible/whatever stepsisters- enough said. Ohh, so much drama.

Erynn- succumbed to pressure and attended HS prom with blackmailer to avoid teen embarrassment. Ok, it is not the mid 20th century, she wasn't raised into a crazy cult of misogyny and it’s not really consistent with what we know about her mother and upbringing but I’ll accept the need for some more drama and she has to be “intertwined” somewhere... then we go WAY off the rails.

While the “feelings betrayed” backstory totally works from Alexis’ POV it is more than a bit cringy from Erynn’s. A 13 year old child, unseen since, doesn't tend to inspire strong adult emotions in a well adjusted 21/22 year old college student with a home, a job, the ability to feed and care for herself and some life goals. An aspiring math teacher indeed!

We’ll assume Ethan is neither BF Skinner nor Prof. Moriarty. (Based upon his story so far I suspect he’d have to Google them.) Yet he has somehow convinced said well adjusted college junior(?) to perform tasks with what? The same high school social embarrassment? The young woman is a pretty 20 something living alone and off campus, has presumably taken the required childhood development classes and probably some basic psych… She is currently working as a model; which I'm certain has it’s own form of predation education. This character is either a victim of unfortunate rewrites due to plot holes/AVN porn prejudices or there is so much to be revealed that speculating upon her psychopathy is useless.

21/22 year old college students are not 17/18 yr old HS kids. One goes from a few hundred peers in forced social groups and seclusion into a wide world of new ideas and thousands of disparate people. Add to that a professional life and well...

Now, I’ll allow that there are great differences in what is personally considered romantic. Dirty Dancing was a huge movie when I was a kid and it can be either a sweet love story or a study in 1950’s statutory rape laws based upon one’s perception… And those Shade novels, geezus. Either way, unless alien mind control exists or this tape has her sucking down coke off a murdered homeless person while choking adorable puppies I am not seeing it as anything other than UNreal life drama.

I truly don't hate the Erynn character. It's like she was written for a totally different story. I think she is currently very inconsistent and completely out of place within this, so far, very clever and engaging tale.

technically Erynn is an extremely well built character! it took Zach on ep.7 to finally flesh that out! she is a successful and extremely beautiful model that every man would love to meet and have a go at her! She as not had many lovers which is weird but considering how Ethan is helicoptering over her its not so surprising! her mental weakness in not confirming the sex tape falls into that trope, same for accepting the blackmail without reaching out for help! hell if not from her mother and Aunt at least from her best friend, they could have ruined his social life in high school and girls are good at it! it would not surprise me if Ethan just like Lucas are still virgin incels due to their obsessive personality where they are blind to what they can have and only aim at what they can not have!

Well, to be fair, the "guy who just had several sexual encounters with your BFF" advises Erynn to tell others about the blackmail, including her mom and police, if I remember correctly.

Also, I'm not sure what "just had several sexual encounters with your BFF" has to do with anything. None of the encounters, in my experience, are done to spite Erynn or harm Erynn or manipulate Erynn. If I recall correctly, most, if not all, of these encounters happen with the MC unaware of the Alexis/Erynn relationship. At least in my playthroughs this is the case, though I haven't run through all permutations.

If there's any reason not to trust the MC, it's because he's a bit of a flake that runs away from his problems. Maybe he's becoming more reliable though, who knows?

And no, MC isn't the only flake. Pointing out his character flaws doesn't mean everybody else in the story is perfect (or even close to it).
