Is animation important in the game?

But what if the video has multiple animations in one? Or tells more story? In the end the player never knows how long it is and is forced to watch unless he doesn't mind skipping possibly important content.

Well noone can go back in time to check that but I would easily take this bet if the cgs were in the same level as the animations.

In fact, you can check how games like Karryn's Prison that have no animations are getting very popular regardless. Not everything boils down to animations.
If the dev decided to tells the story through animations, then you're not skipping just an animation, you're skipping the story. Just pick another game to play if you don't like the dev's animations/story.

You can pretend and say we'll never get the answer because we can't travel in time, but come on, as someone said before, check every mainstream game, they have animations. Just the fact that you need to compare Milfy City, a game cited in this forum like every single day, with Karrryn's Prison, a games that most people didn't remember or never heard about, tells the difference.

I mean, I just looked at the most viewed list of games...
If you want another example more similar using daz, A wife and mother.
A game that become mainstream way before animations became the standard. Because sure, games like Dreams of Desire and Dual Family became mainstream without animations, because in those times "animations" were two CGs in a loop, not 30-60fps. Those game became popular and them carried their popularity to these days. Everyone can watch Big Brother with modern eyes and tell how bad/average it is for today's standards, but since it was done before today's standards, Big Brother will always remain as a classic.

Animation was never a defining factor of popularity much less a necessity for adult games, that's how it was before and how things will continue, people are happy as long as they can fap.
Otherwise noone would be making shitty prerendered DAZ games in the first place, that's as backwards as people can go when it comes to technology, DAZ was released in 2005 and barely changed.

Dude, I can tell you're not really trying to understand as soon as I read the word necessity...

Yes, ICSTOR is older than F95 and the games that made him popular didn't have animations, then he carried his popularity to these days and exploded in popularity with Milfy City. And yes, animations in western started with the flash era (Meet&Fuck games, maybe there is something older than that). They aren't a necessity, but their presence helps more than their absence even when the animations are bad, as long as everything around those animations is at least decent.

Btw, the reason why people like "shitty DAZ games" is because they like DAZ more than Honey Select, Koikatu and most if not all of 2D artist. Give people a good pair of tits in all DAZ, HS, etc. Most people will pick DAZ tits first.

I understand your preferences, but if that was true for everyone then there would be no 2d, hs, or even koikatsu games in this first page...

Again, I'm not denying the benefits of good animation just stating that they are not "standard" of anything especially in adult games, or even non-adult VNs in general.

You clearly don't understand my preference if you didn't notice all the links in my signature and think that that was my preference. I'll stop after this comment because you're clearly not making any effort to read my comments.

Yes, animations has become the standard here, it pains me to say it, I am a dev myself and I don't particularly care about animations, but animations have become the standard regardless of what you or I would prefer. Animations aren't needed to make a game good, but animations will make a lot of people think that a game is indeed good, so animations are important for people, thus, animations are important for adult games.

I hide signatures and block most distracting ui elements, so yeah, I'm not seeing anything. On the rest, agree to disagree as they say

Adding to the chorus: they're great if well done and well implemented, but if not I'd rather not have them

Important? yes
needed? no
that said, more and more devs seem to be adding animations and its getting easier to utilise them too so
just adds to the realism and make it much better

Personally, I don't mind if a game has animations or not, however good animations certainly enhance the experience by a LOT so I highly appreciate when devs add them.

It depends on the game, but for the most part, the answer is yes. If the game is 3D and has some sense of real-time, you need animations. The only time you wouldn't want it is specific cases like Karryn's Prison.

I'm totally fine with games not having animations. But seeing than lets me appreciate the game even more when it's well done

Genre defines it all, Text based games don't need animations or even pictures at all, other games require everything being animated even to work, and VN's are just simply garbage.

Waste of time and resources for developers.

If you really want to make a dynamic sex scene, a few well-executed shots mounted in a loop are enough. This will fit the pace of VN better than a ridiculous animation that suddenly pops up out of nowhere.

If you really want to make a vivid sex scene, it is more important to show emotions and body tension, rather than frictions.

If you're wasting your time animating outside of sex scenes (such as a "spectacular" intro or camera fly-by) then you're just an idiot.

Yes otherwise I will just rip the still image sex scenes from the game if the art is really good.

Very few adult games make me keep playing purely for the gameplay. I'm an avid gamer so I have a pretty high standard with video games. The porn comes first when I look at adult games, doesn't matter how good the gameplay is if the porn isn't to my liking.

Animatians are not eveything but important. Just for, i prefer them. That means: It is not a "must have" but i will enjoy them more.
Primarily it´s porn, not art.
