If it doesn't have animation then I'm just going to find a game that does. If I want to look at pictures I'll go look at pictures and read a book or something but if I want a game then I expect a game not whatever a visual novel is.

Personally I don't care.
Honey Select or Koikatsu it's going to be the same generic animation, I would rather they make something more intresting with the pose and scene instead.
Live2D stuff I only like it for battle fuck where you get more intresting variations. It's great for games like Colony City.
But for those games where you get one scene per girl that is "animated" I would rather have more scenes and variations instead.
As for Daz they could be great but they could also be wooden.
Animations could be great if they do something intresting with them but that's rarely the case, and it's usually at the cost of less content and variations.

What you are missing from that eqaution is Content.
In the Production Triangle you can be either Cheap, Fast or Good.
Those projects have years worth of Content and they are slow to update.
There are very few developers that are Professional enough so that they complete their projects in a reasonable timeframe.
Adding animations is more of a sign of incompetence rather then competence since they don't acknowledge the Cost of making those animations for their project.
Completing 1% vs 10% of the project with each update is the difference between the game getting completed in a few years versus people dying of old age without reaching the ending.
