A new update was released yesterday
2.2.2, with all the new features from latest dev' snapshot. It's mostly a few bug fixes and some balance tweaks. But it should be the best, most balanced and complete version released so far.
While 2.0, 2.2 and 2.2.1 were my love letters to this game, this new version is all made by ImperatorAugustusTertius, so props to him. He had already worked on the game for more than a year, so I'm sure it will be good.
On a side note, I'm noticing that I've now been involved in JONT's development for 3 years; that's crazy, and amazing. I still remember that my first and only goals were to merge the pictures of v1.7.3 and v1.7.5 as well as replace the censored pictures. Then it evolved into collaborating with other modders; some had already worked on the game before. This led to making visual overhauls, soundtrack overhauls, balance overhauls... All of that with a lot of intended respect for the original game experience, so that it feels like there'd always be continuity in game-feel and design philosophy.
With that in mind, I think this will be the last stable version we'll be releasing for a while; which means you can enjoy starting from scratch if you haven't played recently. But it also means that, being busy with personal lives, we have no immediate ways to implement what we wanted for 2.3 (new quests and progression overhaul, new fighting system, etc.).
One thing however, v2.2.1 didn't gain any popularity as opposed to previous releases, because the moderators forgot to bump it in the Latest Updates section of the website. Which means veterans couldn't see that a new update was released and that recent users couldn't discover the game. If this new version gains attraction, it might relaunch interest for the game, and create a new development cycle, in that case I'll keep on updating everything on the OP and working with the development team, which we hope will expend and make a v2.3 possible.
In any case, the moderators should soon add mirrors in the OP. We hope you'll enjoy this new version very much and that it is bugfree and balanced as planned.
